Following the build with great interest (myself using S10 in an open baffle with W15).
But found another set of specs under Lii Audio Canada site, for what I believe is the same driver (?)

If those (such as they are), are accurate, with a claimed Sd of 245.703cm^3 it's
a/ Got to be about the smallest 10in driver in known human-history, and also
b/ A scientific miracle since the cone appears to have a surface area rated in cubic rather than square measurements. 😉
How it's supposed to have a Qts of 0.528 when Qe is stated as 0.324 and Qms as 7.583 is also mysterious.

1/Qms+1/Qes=1/Qts
1/0.324 + 1/7.583 = 3.218
Qt = 0.3107
Something does not add up.

Complete BS/worthless.
Drat! Got caught out again re 'hidden' posts.

I believe the introductory price is $1,999 USD + shipping until sometime in may but jumping up to $2,199 + shipping after that. I've not seen any recent price updates: https://www.lii-audio.com/product/one-pair-reference-level-10-fullrange-drivers-platinum-10/Did the price just jump 35%?
Shipping from China to Australia is likely a fair bit less than it is to the US.
I’m sure there are buyers out there that will be seduced by the looks and the pricing. Some people are like that.
But with the lack of information, and the little information available seeming unreliable, I just don’t get why anybody would be willing to buy. Gotta have money to throw away, I guess.

If you’d listened to a speaker based upon the previous Silver series you’d understand. The Platinum is significantly improved upon the Silver. If you pass judgement purely on lack of measurements rather than factoring in experience then I dare say you’ve missed out on many great sounding products over time.
Anyway, let you know how it sounds when done…. Unless measurements are all you’re interested in, in which case subjective observations will be meaningless to you. Understandable though as this forum is primarily for engineering types.
Needless to say I don’t like to throw away money, and driver aesthetics are irrelevant as it’ll be hidden behind the speaker cloth. Pricing is justified based on expected sonics. I put my money where my mouth is. 🙂

Well, the study of audio waves and design of drivers and their implementation is based on engineering formulas, so yes.
If there is a lack of measurements (or unreliable ones), how can we come up with a good design for them?
I guess with all that eye candy that these seem to go for (and the price), I'd put them in OB so they at least could look good!

Eye candy completely irrelevant. Just sonics which if Silver-6 is anything to go by will be stunning. Time will tell.
I think the point is rather the fact that, based on the total nonsense that they have published, they are either
a/ Incompetent, or
b/ Taking potential customers for mugs.
If they wanted to go down the purely subjective route, as Feastex and some others did / do, fair enough. People can make their own calls on that basis and while objectively it can be critiqued, nobody can say they are making false claims, because none are made in the first place. But when somebody markets a product with data that is self-evident drivel, that's another matter entirely. Especially when a retailer / distributor of the product then publishes wildly different data (in the same format) for the same product which is also utter nonsense. Since not every buyer is necessarily up on the subject, or will catch the inaccuracies, the door is wide open for many to be making purchases in good faith based on deceptive marketing.

Hi,
IIRC it´s not the first time that this manufacturer has provided strange data, therefore own and realistic measurements should be made before investing quite some money in nice enclosures.
A side note: I whish my drivers would be able to make such a nice, oh, have to correct myself, perfect impedance curve...
Another side note: I cannot imagine a possible reason for the large reflecting area directly behind the cone. Does anybody has an idea what this detail might be good for?
Thanks in advance and all the best

Meanwhile, back to the build. Hardwood matching Jarrah trim for front elevation being prepared. 50mm x 30mm. Seems very good quality.
For the folks who (legitimately) are commenting on the specs, the guy who I'm building these cabinets for already has two pairs of Lii drivers (including the previous 'top' Silver model), which he loves. He has had an extensive audio history....Martin Logan, plus other quality gear. I liken his choice to Scott's comment above re Featsex. If the drivers do a a very good job of, say 90% of range (acknowledging bass drop off and HF extension), then they should be considered as excellent options. $2,000 compared to what.....a $20,000 full commercial system....? Some balance is called for.
