Hi, Bill
Glad to know you‘re trying the new design now. And I just finished the initial I/O board with volume control, works as expected. Next, I'll change this opamp to DIP type with DIP-8 socket, so the diyers can easily change to their favorite opamp.
And, I'll ask JLC to build a small quantity of SMD boards for me, hope this can catch your new design for comparison that time😀
Thanks,
Eric

That looks great, I would prefer Balanced if there I a choice. I am almost completed my new preamp that has 2 single ended, and 1 balanced out so I will be able to have 3 amps out to switch around. The volume control will be great to be able to match the levels.

Hello Eric, I hope you haven't forgotten about my board! Waiting for item+shipping price, so I can pay for this. I also have need for two x ffa001 high/low versions for a pair of active speakers. When would you be able to arrange those? Can the high/low handle a 4R woofer and 8R tweeter?
Thanks and regards
Randy

What preamp are you using? Your design?I am almost completed my new preamp that has 2 single ended, and 1 balanced out so I will be able to have 3 amps out to switch around.
I know it would be more trouble but I think more useful than a volume control putting dip switches on the board to set the gain. A lot of people these days are driving amps direct from their dacs using software on the front end (streamers) to control volume, there is no established standard to the output of the dacs ( diy anyway). I liked having the high gain on the FFA-001 because I was driving them from raspberry pi’s with dac hats and they did not have much gain. The FFA-003 I will be putting it in my main system that has a preamp to drive it so I probably will not want as much gain and being able to set it with switches I will be able to match it to my other amps.

Careful, you are ruining the justification to my wife for building a pre-amp. 😛
Edit, well I guess that didn't make as much sense after I remembered the added volume control. Oh well, I still have the first one to justify, I was just planning to put it on the pi.

I just got a nad1600 and just completed the first stage refurbishing. Also got the board for the gdan preamp but have not started yet.

The preamp with may worsen the sinad, but it gives you extra gain if needed and makes the stereo rack cleaner as now it is easy to connect multiple types of equipment, specially for setting analog and digital togetherr.

My main issue with this amp, at least with the current models and presented data, is that is max out at about .7 to 1V depending on Ohms ( see post one). I don't see how this could work nicely with unbalanced 2v DAC and balanced 4V
What will be the default provided opamp?Next, I'll change this opamp to DIP type with DIP-8 socket, so the diyers can easily change to their favorite opamp.

We have some FFA001 high/low versions on hand, I'll PM you to detail the order. It's good to driver the 4R woofer and 8R tweeter.
Thanks,Eric
The default opamp is MC33078.What will be the default provided opamp?
Hello Eric
I have placed an order for the three modules. Looking forward to trying these new ones
Do you have anything that can do 2 x 350w @2R or 1 x 350w at 2R?
What about 1 x 1kw @ 4R?
This would be my next purchase if possible
Thanks and regards

Hi, Randy
Your order is checked, thanks for your support.
If you need 2x350W @ 2R or 1x1KW @ 4R, the FFA002-V2 can have some modifications to meet this requirement.
Please test these new modules first once you have them, then we can decide on the next step.
Thanks,Eric

On the grounding practices, any issues with this arrangement? I think I got the ones mentioned, but skipped the optional ones.
Or other issues? Probably should have put the power inlet on the other side, I wasn't thinking and ended up with that heatsink close to the side.
This box wasn't meant to be pretty, just done. The pretty one will come later, and use the XLR inputs, but someone kept reminding me every six months...

Nice build, Thanks for sharing. maybe the XLR I/O buffer is more suitable for the rear mounting. 😉
Thanks,Eric
Thanks,Eric
