But the Audax HM130Z12 sound phenomenal. They are superb in my 782SE's and 780s (see above). I have heard harmonies and backing singers that I never knew were there! Way better than the original Keraforms. A bit of mucking around to fit but well worth it. What will these Chinese ones be like, I'd be very surprised if they are anything close.

The Keraforms are the very one that had the problem
The updated version from Audax that was retrofitted was like the one in the photo
Sound will vary depending on the amp you use anyway
I have them plugged in in an arcam avr100 and a technics su-v650 and they do produced different sounds for sure and I alternate depending on what type of music I am listening
Surely the new mid are up to the job otherwise the very Peter Comeau would not be announcing the remanufacturing

Thanks to pipolo71.
One of my 782 midrange drivers got damaged (in an altercation with my 4-year-old).
Just emailed Nicki Chesser at IAG, and a new driver is on its way to me.

What is that "Mission Owners Group" in that screenshot above? I can't find it on Facebook..

Thanks for all your posts. I'm trying to fix my 782s ATM. I know there is an official Mission replacement for this but I was c
Interested about your comments on the B&W alternative. Do you think the driver from the 601 S2 would still work and might sound better than the CC6 S2 driver you used? I think the frame is round so uncertain if it would still fit and if crossover frequencies have to be messed around with?

These aren't the old Keraforms and yes they are made by Audax. But 4 months or so later I am still hearing things I have never heard before on my CDs! I am sitting down & listening to whole Albums again. see earlier posts. a bit of messing around to fit but no changes made to crossovers or anything.
If you are in the UK and can track me down somehow you are welcome to come and have a listen. I can't work out how to private message in this forum. I am in Surrey.

Hi,

I just learnt the good news about these new midrange drivers available for reviving my 782.
I just cannot find any link where I can order them, can you help me?
I left a contact message on both the IAG and Mission websites but had no answers so far.
Thanks,
Ludovic

Hi Ludovic,

I called Mission earlier this week using there contact number at the bottom of the webpage. + 44 (0)1480 452561

They have them still in stock, £120 Inc delivery and Vat for 2 drivers shipping within the UK.

I'm fortunate enough to be around the corner for Richard T 9a9b and he's very kindly letting me listen to his Audax conversion so I can decide if that's the way to go.

Kind regards

Hello, I have a pair of Mission 783 and they have faulty mid range drivers also. These seem to be little more rare than 782 and I couldn’t have find which mid range drivers people have been using as a replacement for original ones. Any ideas? The are 6 1/2”, otherwise identical to 782’s mid range..

These are something which may work:

Any help really appreciated! 😊

If your drivers were 8 ohm and aerogel and had similar size magnets they should be close enough to work with the existing crossover.

See post 21 in this thread. If you are happy to do similar surgery I think it will work. The plastic facia may not be so pretty after the mod.

I would spend some time verifying the replacement speaker chassis dimensions against your front baffle dimensions just as a double check.

Thanks for reply, they are 6 ohms. Some dimension checking was also what I was thinking to do next. At first I was thinking to buy new speakers maybe Genelecs, but I have liked these quite a lot and since I found some stories about diy driver replacements for 782’s, I thought I would like to repair these too, as costs seem to be quite reasonable also.

In terms of impedance the 6 Ohm figure from the data plate on the rear of the speaker is the overall nominal. impedance of the three drivers and the crossover. The link you provided for the replacement driver Re is 5.7 ohms so I wouldn't worry about that.

If it does fit nicely I think the cosmetics will be your most obvious issue, ie possible cuts in the plastic facia to accommodate the edges of the new driver.

The difference seems to be that yours are 6 Ohms rather than the 782s which are 8. If you think 8 will work then see all the threads above, the Audax HM130Z12 sound phenomenal., and should be OK to fit, either by adjusting the plastic or, as I preferred (described above etc) taking off some of the speaker surround. Audax do seem to do a 6 Ohm one see below but I have no idea of what is sounds like. The price point puts it a little lower than the 130Z12 so it might not be so good? TLHP (french company) have loads of different drives, suggest you look at their website - or call them, ordering from them on-line was no problem - I have done it twice now, again read my threads above.

The member called 'WhatsThatNow (see above) came and listened to my 782SE's with the HM130Z12s and he'll say what they sounded like I am sure. I have offered to help fit them for him to his 782s.

This was the 6 Ohm one......

Thanks for your answer, haven't done any measurements yet and not at home at the moment, but 783 mid drivers are 6,5", so these replacements suitable for 782 are little bit too small as they are 5,63".

I have not that much electrical knowledge, but as raymondj wrote earlier, drives in the link which I provided were listed as nominal impedance 8 and resistance 5,7 ohms. I do not have any kind of competence to say whether they are suitable or not. But sizing wise they are 6,5" and most likely will need some dremeling etc work to fit nicely. At first I think I'll try to leave plastic parts untouched and so some dremeling in driver chassis instead to preserve nice look without speaker grills.

Maybe next I'll do some measurements and check whether there is impedance listed on original mid drive...any other thoughts how to proceed?

And big thanks for help!
