It is fundamentally unjust that when you have money you have the right pollute and waste fuel as much as you want. There should be a global system like airmiles but the inverse: the more one uses fossil, the less rights you have left. Like food distribution during a war. That's what it feels like to me, we have to defend the planet because people who don't give a hoot are waging war against it.
People forget that the planet is like a swimming pool.. just having money doesn't mean you can use it as a toilet.
I knew somebody who died in a car accident, he was alone in the car.
Seems he never had a license, paid off police who stopped him.
Age 38, died 2001.
Even his car had the previous owner's name in the registration. Did not transfer it for more than a year.
How can you punish such people?
A guy died wrecking a 750 sport bike I had sold him a couple months after the fact. He never changed the reg. over. My dad got a call out of blue from the O.P.P one day basically saying your son's remains are buttered along a section of the 401 highway at the scene of the crash. Undenounced to my dad he didn't know what bike was involved in the crash and thought it was me. Some people will never smarten up. Its too late for that guy.
That actually happened before, too. I mean a jerk didn't change a vehicle title over after I sold it to him. It broke down he left it on the shoulder of the same highway (401). I got the call that time.
It goes without saying both had to be driving without insurance. I sold both vehicles in uncertified condition. Theres no way they could of gotten plates and insurance on them. Until they changed title then got it re certified as road worthy. This happens way more than people realize. If or when those illegal drivers get in crash ups ultimately insurance rates climb for these cases too. When the victims are hit and make claims.
Why can't people just do the right thing?! I guess that would be too hard of a challenge for them.

I made that mistake once - Always go to the ministry with the buyer to change the ownership over.
I sold a car to a buddy. He didn't register it in his name when he got it. It ended up impounded. Thankfully, he told me what was going on and we went to transfer the car to him before I had fines/fees to pay. It cost me 300$ to pay off some outstanding fines for him but at least it won't come back to haunt me later.
He had fallen on hard times - his mother died, and he was kicked out of here place the day she died because his name wasn't on the least. Ended up homeless living out of a car for a bit. Then was staying with a friend when the car was towed.

If you forget to sell, you will get exercised.Isn't it easier to buy oil futures and not worry about the price increase?
10 over is not 3 demerit points. That sign doesn't seem to make sense. Then 50 is considered stunt driving that carries an automatic suspension.
and you suppose that won't affect food costs? High energy costs disproportionately afflict those in the lower income strata.I honestly think that gas should cost a lot, 3 USD per liter would be good. It's not written anywhere that having a car is a human right,
I find myself looking up to the sky asking the local Eagle and Hawk to please clean up the rats and squirrels so I can have a useful garden.
I have a neighbor who had a lovely pandemic garden when we were worried about food. Dammed squirrels ate most of it.

Fuel in North America can be cheap in relation to world prices... but try going to work a quarter mile away if your only form of transportation is a nitro powered top fuel funny car. This consumes between four and five gallons during a quarter-mile run, thats between 16 and 20 gallons per mile! And it doesn't take normal 20 to 30% nitro either, rather 90%! Current prices for this fuel are hard to find, but I see that Amazon.ca has 20% nitro fuel on sale at $61.91 a quart (free delivery). Assuming the car would even run on this stuff, at 4 quarts to the gallon, and a consumption of 40 gallons (round trip), this amounts to just over $9,900 dollars Canadian (before taxes), just to go to work and back. If you consider an 8 hour work day, the break even hourly wage is about $1240 per hour. As you can likely imagine this kind of wage is becoming increasingly hard to find.
No, but 20 over is. The limit is 100km/h10 over is not 3 demerit points. That sign doesn't seem to make sense. Then 50 is considered stunt driving that carries an automatic suspension.
There must be some good recipes for BBQ squirrels online.I find myself looking up to the sky asking the local Eagle and Hawk to please clean up the rats and squirrels so I can have a useful garden.

If a specie can criticize itself, it would be a sign of intelligence, I think. The important question is the degree of intelligence. 🤔'Intelligent Species', my foot!
"Welcome to the party pal." John McClane, Die Hard (1988).but there is so much misinformation and bad data it's depressing. And then governments announce actions that are more PR than real help.
I don't seem to have any problems with squirrels. Around here they enjoy nuts, not typical garden food. The internet tells me they eat corn, but I have never had that occur.I find myself looking up to the sky asking the local Eagle and Hawk to please clean up the rats and squirrels so I can have a useful garden.

Rats around here generally like it in the sewers where garbage disposals treat them to easy food. Rabbits were a bit of a problem, but a bobcat stopped by and now far fewer rabbits. Deer however eat tulips quit efficiently, none left.
Next week I plant potatoes. Corn goes in early April. As per this thread's intent, I will not use the corn to make alcohol to use for fuel!
Delhi had installed a (engine powered) generator to run from landfill gas, a pilot plant to prove the concept.
There have been efforts to run small turbines from that gas too.

Yes. Usually the gas emitted by a landfill is methane. Some places even have flame vents to get rid of it.
