Shocking how the price of gas has gone up... on the bright side it takes far less time to put in 20 bucks worth...
I know I am looking for another 20 year old Honda Civic or Toyota as my next car. As long as it has manual transmission.
Glad that kids these days cannot drive a stick.
Gonna be alot of poeple out riding bikes this year also.

Yesterday was $1.64 USD per litre for 87 octane. Not sure about today yet. My vehicle averages 11 L/100 km.
it will soon be time to change our habits.

We have not cut off the oil supply from Russia as it is not yet part of the economic sanction package. The main reason gas price has gone up is due to purely wall street speculation.
Imagine when if the West actually will not accept oil from Russian and if that will occur, watch out. Oil will shoot up.

Much better picture wg_ski. The photo nirvana posted made me hurt. I have commuted 24 miles each way by bike at least a few hundred times maybe more like low thousands though I have not good way to count.
That is just counting my current job where I have been for 21 years.
I have no need to drive to an office. The company can just save on office space.

I did 20 to work, 30 home for over 20 years till the pandemic. Would have taken forever on an old klunker like that. Now just averaging 60 a day, all at once. Kept up the miles, even though a commute was no longer necessary. It’s less money on gas, less miles on the car and truck, and more importantly lower blood pressure and A1C without the need for Ozempic, Jardiance, or starving to death.Much better picture wg_ski. Fear has for now taken over the stock market. Though nobody will really know the bottom since it will depends on the outcome of the Russia-Ukraine war. I'd say for now, there are three main concerns:
1. The war.
2. The FED rate hike.
3. Inflation
Until some clarity or closure, it will be difficult for the market to go up.
The good news is when the market will decide it going up, watch out as well as it will shoot up really quick.

I’m paying $6 per gallon for diesel in the U.K. But then again I don’t view 30mpg as good mileage. 50mpg and above or it’s rubbish

I know someone that bought an electric bike by Trek or one of the others . Its a good one not one of those comical contraption death traps a lot of people are riding on our roads.
He paid 2500 last year. Its already paid for itself in fuel savings.
The positive is electric vehicles will get a big boost from the inflating fuel costs. I love my loud fast V8 cars but I love fresh air and fresh air for my kids to breath for many years to come more. The planet can not sustain itself at the rate its going anymore. The onlyones who are in denial are the few that are capitalizing on pollution basically.
The last one is in the tool shed with a thrashed front wheel. This collection is better stock in usable sizes than almost every shop in my city. Bikes have been unobtanium for two years.Way ahead of you (in more ways than one).
Still not much use in 18" of snow though.

The price of gas here went up 30 cents/L within 3 days.
91 octane (Premium) now costs as much as 217.9 cent/L in Toronto.
My car averages about 10L/100km on paper. In practice it's about 10L/100km on the highway, and closer to 16L/100k in the city. I drive 95% of the time in the city averaging 30 km/h. I get about 400km on a 60L tank.
All of a sudden, 3.25$ for 2 hours of travel on transit seems like a good deal.
At least I only drive about 8000km/year these days.
This round of rising fuel prices will stimulate green alternatives to petroleum, I think. Especially for transportation.
I read the other day that you can charge a new BMW i4 enough to go 100km in just 10 minutes if you use a 150 KILOWATT charger. In order to charge it from empty to full in 2 minutes or so like buying gas, you'd need more than 1MW supply. How do you put 1MW of power through a cable the size of a garden hose?
You don't.
Until they make universal batteries for EVs you'll be stuck for hours to charge them.
In China, they have a taxi fleet that is electric. The battery is swapped by machines in 2 minutes or so.
Some people think it still might catch on here, at least for fleets.

I know it's easy to be all high and mighty when it comes to oil but our lives depend so much on oil and its derivatives. Oil not only fuels our cars but as well in our medical devices. Basically anything that is plastic came from oil.
Yes all true. But they aren't even trying when I see 5 pounds of plastic containing the plastic mouse I bought that weighs less than a pound.
Or when I see a 110 single occupant driving a 5000 lb vehicle that seats about 8. We are too spoiled in the west.
I agree with you. I think when oil prices are relatively low, it encourages people to become overly-excessive.Or when I see a 110 single occupant driving a 5000 lb vehicle that seats about 8. We are too spoiled in the west.
How? Pump price is over £1.50 in most places for diesel which is £5.70 a gallon so $7.50 at current exchange rates.I’m paying $6 per gallon for diesel in the U.K. But then again I don’t view 30mpg as good mileage. 50mpg and above or it’s rubbish
I cycle to work (and have all my working life), but life is too short to get 50MPG when I do take the car out.
