Use melamine sponges then. They last forever. Polyurethane foam rots in 15-20yrs. But it only falls apart if physically touched. It has a funky smell though. Anyone who has an old polyurethane coated nylon tent knows this. Even the handles on my Craftsman screwdrivers get this funky smell when the handles turn brown after 20 years.
Yeah, I bought someAcoustic panel stuff from Amazon only a couple years ago if that and more recently in swapping out speakers and boxes and pulling apart and pulling the screws and getting rid of wood it was amazing how it fell apart just like you said. it’s not really experiencing any heat or direct sunlight or anything it’s just made of junk/stuffed it deteriorates I guess it’s kind of weird.

I am hopping on this bandwagon! I have all the drivers and XO parts on hand and happen to need another pair of speakers. While I'm at it, I would like to experiment with the HF driver in an 8" waveguide. I recently adapted a Dayton 12" round CD waveguide for use with the TC9 and will try the 10f on said waveguide. The results are pretty good so far and sound great in my big two way (15" woofer, tc9 + waveguide) but I still have a lot of xo tweaking and learning to go... now if I could just stop listening and get to work. The 12" waveguide gives me 3" of physical offset which is perfect for time alignment with the 15" woofer. I'm sure I can design an adapter for the driver to 8" waveguide to give the needed 2.5" distance needed for time alignment with the RS225 and try them in a flipped(conventional ;) orientation). I will build sealed test cabinets with interchangeable baffles for experimenting but would like to ultimately build the TL. I wonder how much the TL will be affected by flipping the driver orientation moving the woofer closer to the TL closed end. Maybe I will build them as designed and build a second pair of cabinets for messing around with.
