I always read your post carefully.
The Jlester SYLPH-D200 has a gain of only 14dB, but do you feel dissatisfied with actual use?
Topping PA5 has a gain of 19dB, but when using it, I sometimes feel that this value is a little low.

had some free days beetween turn of the year and finally build the 3e audio TPA3255-2CH-260W (first version)
I tried adding a ALPS 100KA Stereo LOG Potentiometer but the board eventually give me a Fault every time i tried it
without the pot it working fine did I choose a wrong value for the pot?
I just need a "passive" input volume control for the line in to make sure the connect AUX (either macbook or express port or other devices my son will use)
Any help or ideas would be great

Hi! I'm from Hungary, and I'm thinking buying a Shui Yuan Audio TPA3255 panel. I'd like modify a little bit (capacitor change, maybe opamp and inductor change to better). What is your opinion, can I reach with these modifications the more expensive board's sonic quality, or worth buying the expensive boards without mods?

This power supply is just good for powering LEDs ...
All my TPAs worked best with a linear power supply.
Or Menwell or mornsun. 🙂
I agree, I put it on for the others, me too it's Merus.
I have the Shui Yuan Audio TPA3255 PCB and I changed the 2 big power condos as well as the OPs by OPA1656, frankly don't waste time with this PCB and go directly to the more expensive ones without modifications. Unless you are not looking for anything too musical, or to put in a garage ( JLE or others, not 3EAUDIO... Topping PA5s).
for hc, it is suitable ...
But here it is (for my part), we are always looking for better!

This is one is not full balanced..... the one I shared is the only TPA3255 amp with balanced inputs under $200. And it should be very nice for DIY )
The PSU is not so bad, I used it for many projets. I have the Meanwell and another LLC PSU as well. I am also using a linear PSU in my TPA325X projects.
Th Meanwell has the best ripple but the shared PSU holds up and works very well in most of my projects
You can do your own Linear PSU with a 4x 10000µF 50V Audio Nover caps :

14 dB gain is quite low, but it's a function of losing gain to enable the passive PFBB. As far as I understand it, the decision was made not to restore the gain in order to "optimize" (some would say "game") the noise performance. You will need a DAC with high voltage output or a pre-amp to fully utilize the Sylph's maximum power.
Hi Daniboun, I wrote that it was not balanced.
And for half the price. can be okay on a tight budget. In addition there is a remote control, much better than a motor that is useless. Is not it. Me personally I would not buy this amp, would be ready for the one you show, but maybe practical.
Very unfair to compare the test results of the 3e-Audio integrated amplifier that uses a DSP at the front end with a TPA3255 Board with no DSP. The lower SINAD and TDH is almost all due to the DSP used. You also have the other 3e-Audio TPA3255 boards which would be a far better comparison.The left module is an AC Audio grade filter.
Checkout the 3E Audio now we are far away from the PA5 )
