I hear distortion up the wazoo, but probably frequency modulation, not much you can do about that......
4:09, 5:04, 5:25, 6:33................
I had to stop listening at 8:00.
Well I didn't make it past 5:35, and even that was pushing it. I can't imagine actually being in the room with those speakers.😱

Not so much around breakup. You can try to balance it.I think bob brines mentioned that once drivers are eq’d flat, they sound about the same……………………..
just sitting here waiting for anyones recommend on a 8...
Someone mentioned Mark Audio,
No thanks. don't care for the looks.
The best 8"ers I've owned/auditioned don't go really low or really high and the absolute best to date was the mid '30s era W.E./Altec 755A [~ 80 - 12 kHz/F6] and even then the pioneers realized it ideally needed to be a three way, so is a single diaphragm with two mechanical XOs around 225, 1100 Hz IIRC.
Interesting observation in that whatever credibility you thought you had just vaporized.
The subjectivity is strong with this one.
The superlatives and trash talking has been entertaining, but hold no value whatsoever.

Your low sens xover speakers can't do what my WBers do best. Impossible
Nine Hundred and Sixty Thousands..and stilll can't match in some things what my WBers are excellent.
Trust me, I ain't feeding you guys lies, fluff, snakeoil
vandersteen, Thiel, Magnepan, Wilson's are feeding you guy lies,
Each his own I guess.
I wouldn't tade either WBer for any Wilson.
Nor any low sens speaker, Never.
Once you found the best, why go back to trash.
Low sens speakers omly use is as assist for WBers,. nada mas

OK, a handful of points from my semi-recumbent position:
-You may not realise this, but you are actually talking to people here who either use or have years (decades in some cases) of experience with wideband drive units, and high efficiency systems.
-Nobody on this thread, to the best of my knowledge, uses Vandersteen, Thiel, Magnepan or Wilson Audio commercial products. So the continued references are a little pointless. A few (mentioning no names 😉 ) might use vintage Altec gear, which blow your 8in VX8 and TB drivers out of the water as far as efficiency / sensitivity are concerned, and pretty much everything else for that matter.
-While I doubt many here have any interest in the Master Chronosonic (I certainly haven't myself), I can't help wondering if you know anything about them other than the price. It would appear not if you are calling them a 'low sensitivity' loudspeaker, since they are actually rated at 93.5dB 1m/w, which is roughly between what is claimed for the VX8 and the W8-2145, albeit at 1m/w rather than 1m/2.83v. They're a heavy amplifier load, since impedance is said to drop to 1.77ohms at 310Hz (wince) so they need a shed-load of current, but are not a low-sensitivity design as such.
-I'm not certain where the vitriol directed at Troels comes from, but it's unjustified. Whether you like his designs or not, Troels serves a need for one segment of the DIY market (including having a couple of higher sensitivity offerings) and is quite a nice chap.
-On a more specific matter -I suggest you fasten your drivers to your enclosures using all four mounting points rather than just two of them, which looks to be the case in several of the videos. You are likely bleeding off pressure and over-stressing both mountings, and basket if you are relying on just a few of the mounting points.

OK, so whats going on with me, I have this paranoia of being under attack for my Philistine beliefs, taking on flack and snides from my postings on another forum, starts with the letter A.
I forget this is a
DIY forum, = folks willing to think and experiement outside the box, that box of commercialism and consumerism.
Glad I jumped off that band wagon,, Some folks with big bucks think they can buy their way into high fidelity.
via commercial speakers.
can't.
Neen there done THAT.
Those designs are flawed.
Troel Gravesen does employ Seas and Sacnspeaks very best drivers.
Hats off.
But sadly these things do not break 90 db sens. Regardless of what he might claim on his web site.
Seas and scanspeaks are not more than 89 db.
I boughta single new CRESCENDO Seas Tweeter rated 92 db on Seas site,,,not even 85db, more like 93 or 82 db.
Their older flagship the Millennium (My Thors) is far far superior.
But since I dumped the Millennium, and have no gone crazy over my new wide bands.
I am WBers worlds biggest fan.
Yes there is a place for some Seas and Scanspeak midwoofers , only as low bass fq assist , as added, padded bass.
I have a 10uf Mundorf on the dual W18E001.s rolls off like 1400hzish,,, nice added bass for the DavidLouis wide band.
I runa Kasun Paper 3.5 double magnet for added upper ambience witha 2.2 Mundorf cap, rolls off like 9khzish..
Will upgrade to a davidlouis pure Beryllium witha INCREDIBLE Neo Dymium magnet,, UNDER $200!!!!! PAIR,, seas /Scan can't touch quality nor price.
IMHO its all about DIY,
Commercial stuff is only good as parts.
I prefer Magnesium midwoofer cones vs anything paper.
It sounds more neutral and natural in the upper bass,
Sure Scans paper composite woofers have a nice deep punchy bass, but its the paper resonances in upper bass/low mids that grates my nerves.
magnesium lacks the solid punch, tight bass response in the lows, but as in everything audio, there are tradeoffs.
I see wide bands, the ones in this topic as offering the best overall solition to what the old low sens (xover types) could not resolve and can not deliever vs a high tech WBer.
I am a ideologue over WBers are being not ONLY the best choice for high fidelity, but really the ONLY solution for all the weaknesses we hear in the low sens/xover types.
I'll run over those numbers of the Wilson's with my tech geek, He too has a opinion of Wilson's,. He does not like them.
I lump that whole bunch in one big fat pile.
None of them break 90db WITH A LOW IMPEDANCE. \
Take Magnepan, , big issues with that thing
What Wilson is attempting to do, is be all things, all fq's.
Which results ian huge loud sound, but sadly many bumps in the linearity.
Another spec about these new (past 5 yrs) high tech WBers, is their pure Linearity.
Xover types can not approach the pure natural cohesive linearity of WBers, 8's.
I do not expect many USA audiophiles to understand anything I am saying, as they are sold out via propaganda that xover types is the superior designs.
They've been brainwashed.
My recent experiements with WBers is only to attempt to enlighten a few who are willing to think outside *The Box*.
Most will never recobsider their choice.
xover designs is some sort of religion with this cult.
This is whats going on behind some of my rants.
I feel as The Outsider over at the other forum, and have made no inroads in their closed midset.
I;'ll take a look at your 2 web site links.
Horns are fantastic, but out my ability to acquire such a speaker.
Thus settling for the next best speaker, The WBers.

@Scottmoose - for supplements consider - magnesium oxide, Chinese skullcap, Valerian - take Melatonin too as that seems to relieve stress.
MozartFan - it would probably be more convincing if you could get an audio recorder which doesn't overload easily. I used the old Zoom Q3HD. The newer models may better picture wise.. Tascam also makes inexpensive X-Y audio recorders.

Tryptophan also is a great relaxer.
anyway, agree, If I intend to make a convincing argument for WBers over xover low sens types,,
A superior recorder is in order..
I will ck out the cams you mention.
For monetary factors I chose this Sony crap cam.
anyway...
lets do this
Lets make some sort of generalized list of all the nuances where a WBer is superior vs a low sens box things.
I'll start,, Please add any, even the tinesy factor which may give WBers a nuanced edge over the **LOUD* speaker varieties, A-Z (all are about the same crappy midrange as far as I'm concerned.hear them))
1) obviously highsens
2) pure linear
3) bass/mids/highs all in one point source ((YEPPIEEEE)
4) not expensive
4) not heavy
5) wife friendly, as not big and ugly
6) easy to make any cabinet/very low cost DIY projexct which any newbie can do, or just hijack your old cabinets, leave in the midwoofer/tweeter, and stick the WBer in a empty area of the cabinet
(might have to readjust midwooofer to xover at say 500hz and tweet at say 9khz)
7) ,,,,midrange nice , clean, neutral, = superior soundstage..
Now some of these advantages over lap, like best midrange = pure linear.
Disadvantages?? maybe, lack of bass SLAM,,,I listen to classical, dont need slam...lacks soem highs thata pure Beryllium tweet can deliver,.,,,,got it, rolls off 12khz,,, I listen to classiacl, not many snare drums in classical, don't really miss the 12k+ fq's...
Now the advantages of low sens xover types,,
1) has better bass.
2) has superior highs
3)....
4)....
5)....
....
,,,,
,,,,
...
, well no brainer as far as I can see.
If I list the disadvatages of low sens/xover types,,I could easily list 5 hanidicaps I can't stand about box low sens types.

Don't underestimate the importance of power and bass for most people. If you listen to a lot of different music, the traditional multiway speaker is a better compromise in my opinion. Also lack of dispersion from full rangers.
All just depends on what you listen to and your requirements

Good fullrange drivers can also give bass in the right setup. My mark audio based speakers all go low, the bookshelfs with the Alpair 10.3 at arround 45Hz, the MLTL's with the CHN110 to about 32Hz F3. But a lot of fullrangers lack xmax and a low Fs, that is true. And it won't work on high volume as the cone surface is limited.
And dispertion can also be relative good. A relative flat cone like Mark Audio (and a few others like EAD and Jordan) have helps with that. But real tweeters do it often, but not always better, that is true. All speaker builds are compromises, and that limited dispertion is less a compromise for me than a crossover in the range where it disturbs me (300Hz to at least 3kH, and preferable higher). So each should choose his compromise and be aware of it.
Don't underestimate the importance of power and bass for most people

Yes being around these chat forums, Folks love big bad bass,
Not needed for my genre, classical, cellos lowest note is like 60hz. Kettle druns, rare, and don't miss the below 40hz, My DLVX8 's hit 40hz, i'm sure. soft, but its there.
If I want more bass than the dual Seas W18E001's deliver I can the get Seas W26 Magnesium/Aluminum driver.
So WBers soft bass can easily find a solution adding your fav woofer. Its no big deal really

Don't think i can buy into the argument that low sens xover types offera wider broader sound stage, vs the narrow WBers spectrum.
I think its partly true, but hard to test out in my 10x12 listening room.
But its not like the tiny sweet spot of a pannel/planar, tahts for sure.
Agree, for jazz/classical, Nothing can beat out a WBer.,.
For Rock, hard driving music, xover low sens types will work just fine.

I;'ve owned the Seas Thors now over 15 years, Updated $1500 Mundorf xovers.
Worlds best speakers Seas Excel.
This is pure objective testing, nothing subjective watsoever./
The real truth is, the Seas suck next to either high tech wide band.

Pure objectivity, nothing subjective whatsoever.
It is long time past since the low sens xover frauds recive a good kick in the rea.
Their obvious weknesses shoudl have been exposed long ago.
We can thank Sterophile 's snakeoil salesmen for pushing these low sens speakers maing no comparison to any wide band.
It is true the new wide bands did not exist 15 years ago.
All we had was Lowther and Fostex.
But a low sens speaker next to some Horns sound like crap.
Horns rule, but won't work for most of us middle class folk.
The next best speaker would be th WBer.
Try hooking your low sens speaker on 1 channel, anda WBer on the other. You'll immediately hear what I heard.
Wet blanket speakers, YUCKKK
$1500 Mundorff xovers , like the ones Troels Gravesen employs (Jensen vs Mundorf = same cap quality, same prices = $$$$$$$)
Just a few of his caps cost more than I paid for the pair of DavidLouis VX8!!!!!!!

hummmm
WEll perhaps the xover has other options,,
Perhaps others here have devised a superior xover.
Possibly true, Maybe not.
I just had Madisound re make the xovers employing Mundorf's
Silver Oil
SilverGold Ooil\EVO
SESGO toop line.
= cost a fortune.
made a nice nuance, nothing more = disappointment actually.
Seas Millennium sold off after hearinga WBer next to the Thors.
The dual W18E001's stay with a single Mundorf SGO 10uf cap, runs up to say,,,1200hz??
Not sure, Had a Mundorf SGO 8uf, but felt the 10uf a bit better.
So really not at all interest in a new FIXED xover design, Sorry
I've moved on.
However I posted this link on the other chat forum as back up in my opinion, the Seas Thor is the worlds finest speaker..
Here read this review
**What caught my attention.... lack of COLORATION and OBFUSCATION...**
How many speakerr have we heard over the past 4 decades where the ipper bass/low mids were MUDDY and muddled.
??
All is the answe
Exception is the magnesium Midwoofers from Seas Excel line..
Worlds best material for midwoofer purity
I bought mine in 2004
new xovers last year. cost of $1200 + New Millenniums cost of $750, sold em for $300 2 weeks later, The old Millenniums I gave away to a DIY member, nothing wrong with them, sounded exactly like new ones...
= waste of cash

It was the box design, the TL, that was flawed. No XO tweaks woill fix the major design flaw. THos e2 SEAS midBasses in that line don’t reach much lower tha n 100 Hz (SEAS anechoc measures).
A number of alternate XOs are also possible.
Myself, i would not choose that woofer for a project, and the XO is much higher than i like.

I have the rear port stuffed.
So rear chamber is closed off.
Cut square ports in front.
100hz bottom??
hummm, ck this out then
, these lil 6 inchers really kick on bass guitar.
Lets see if I can find the upload
ck out minute 9:30, Sophie Milman, high quality cd recording
Bass SLAM, Like BAMMMM, POWWWW.
Not sure where you get your 100hz.
These W19 E001's sound close to 30hz as a team effort,,Read Troels gravesen's comments about dual 6's vs a single 8 or 10.
Troels prefers the Seas he helped design the NEXTEL with Titanium VC, and paper coated woofer.
I prefer magnesium
The new Mundorfs gave a nice nuance punckiness to the woofer.
I say WOW throughout the entire video.
There is alottt to be WOWED about,,but sadly the WBer threw a wet blanket over the Thors.
What i am saying is.
At 9 oclock on the Jadis DLP vol, I get incredible SPL on the WBer, with the new Thors,,I need to go 10 oclock to get same response.
9 oclock on Line Stage makes a sweeter response vs the 10 oclock gain for the Thors.
All amplifiers sweetest tones are below 9 oclock on the linestage vol.
= to my ears the music is less strssed on the WBers higher sensitivity vs the Thors more stressed high vol gain.
If that makes sense..
'Yeah the Defy has a fulll 100 watts.
But i don't listen loud, I am 8 feet from speaker, and I just feel a lower vol with superior results beats the Thors.
The voice coil on the WBer 8 is like 2 inches.. vs the Millennium's 3/4 inch.
= superior wider soundstage.
