I’ll send you my pair if yours blows up 😉

I have looked at a couple of builds here, was the 10R, 100nf, 1N5059, 1N5059 network connected to mounting pad H4 optional?

I believe it’s used to control feedback into the ground plane of the amp board because of the grounding of the amp at pad/mounting hole H4. If you don’t ground your amp boards at pad H4 the feedback/buzz is just awful. So yes, those components are necessary.
Any other comments?
Pete

Using the continuity setting on the meter, then testing power input pins 1&4 against the +&- sides of C6&11 as well as power input pins 3&6 against the +&- sides of C5&9 would have been my choice of testing…😉
Just my two cents..
The Xmas amp moved up one level higher in the amp rack. I’m listening to it almost everyday now. Still loving the sound of this amp. So pleasant and dynamic - no fatigue at all. Can listen all day.
Top row: prototype for Emerald Physics under development (600.2SE) using IcePower 1200AS2 module with HyperSET SS/tube buffer preamp, Xmas amp; middle row: Alpha Nirvana 40w Class A amp by Hugh Dean, Aspen Amplifiers (Hugh Dean) Glass Harmony (1 channel) 50w SE Class A amp; bottom row is VHEX+ amp 100w Class AB by Vzaichenko.
Glad the Xmas amps moved to a higher level. I'm going to have to get mine hooked up and tested and hear how they sound. 🙂
Thank you turion64 - such a simple and noob-proof test. Why did I not think about it?Using the continuity setting on the meter, then testing power input pins 1&4 against the +&- sides of C6&11 as well as power input pins 3&6 against the +&- sides of C5&9 would have been my choice of testing…😉

Maybe I must take another stab at this simple and relatively cheap amp, seeing that it sounds so good. Are there any boards available?Glad the Xmas amps moved to a higher level.

We all should be willing to learn something new.. ;>)

Might cheaper and faster to just have 5 made at JLCPCB and shipped to you in SA. Maybe if someone in SA had some extra boards made.
Cheers
Hi Twocents,
I do have extra boards of the older version with smaller input capacitor. It works fine. Let me know if you want to send them though the consolidator service.

That’s a ground loop breaker (GLB). It allows the amp’s clean analog 0v reference or “ground” be connected to the “dirty” chassis/earth ground for RF noise reduction and safety while reducing ground loop hum.

Hi X: I think I have a few of the newer boards left (I’ll let you know on Sat). I can send you a pair if you want to send those to him.

Hi Pete,
Thanks for the offer! Probably not a big enough change to warrant you sending me a new set of boards. I hate to trouble you.

Btw, although Gerbers are posted maybe I should have some boards available in my shop for anyone interested in the future. Can be a good “add-on” order.

With 70 more pages of this thread to read, I dare to ask. Is there any forum source of PCBs in Europe? I see gerbers on page 1, are there any later revisions?
TDA7293 based composite
Hi guys,
Has anyone tried those circuits:
Ultra Low Distortion Composite Amplifier Kits Based on TDA7293 TDA7294 | Some Funny Ideas for Those with Good Ears
They have stunning specs for chip amplifiers.
I'm really curious to find out how they sound but can't find any reviews or comments.

Good idea X! Not sure how many folks will buy, but it is a lot more convenient than to have a bunch made from Gerber file if you just need a pair.
Nice! I only see one board. Are these monoblocks?
The second board goes on the pillars over the first one.
David.
David, why the redundant ground loop breaker when the amp boards already have them?
Nicely organized assembly though !!
