And what did we buy today?

Now I need to buy a pair of tires.

I will be looking for some tires here soon as well, thinking the pilot sport all season4 will get the nod. I hear you about finding a car that more lasting appeal than much newer cars, am hoping mine lasts, not excited about an automatic!

Tomorrow morning will include a trip to the house paint store for a large pail of gray for one side of our home.

Got different wheels. They came with proper tires (Bridgestone, instead of the cheap Chinese ones I've been using (Joyroad) that were admittedly fine). This pic is before a road test where the height settled.

A new motor for a Dyson vacuum cleaner. Again astonished what an utter garbage Dyson is. However they can be disassembled and can be repaired. Which really is a must since they break down after a few years 😉

The strange thing is that people that have these breaking down nearly always blame themselves and they buy another ...Dyson...

...Dyson...
Have had zero problems with our vacuum. I don't even use the large vacuum anymore, only the Dyson V10. They are after a specific market as you know. They are lightweight, powerful for their size and very convenient. I make sure not to lean it against anything because if it falls over it would blow into a hundred pieces, I get that. OTOH, I never owned a vacuum that made the job at hand any easier, or less un-pleasant.

BTW J-P, I just bought a Dyson AM09 fan . Another stroke of engineering genius that you have to make sure you don't bump into when walking by. 🙂 I git it because I don't see another one out there like it and wasn't sure why it was priced that way.

Then I went to the store to take it for a test drive...

No experienced tech buys Dyson. A tech with brains accepts free defective Dysons.

There is not that much special engineering genius in them (they do have some nice features), it is more a lot of marketing and image building. It works obviously. The landfill is filled with them as I can testify when I bring electro garbage.

Not my wish or preference but fact. Hard to swallow but you might be the lucky person that has one that somehow survives 🙂 The claim of a bladeless fan (with an ordinary fan in the bottom) is also nice marketing. Hype for laymen. The high price seems to give the idea one buys something very good. I know a person that bought 4 Dyson vacuum cleaners in a row all dying after a few years "probably because I did something wrong". THAT is there result of strong marketing/brand building. Very clever Apple quality linking too. Guys that repair stuff know better.

No other brand that I know of describes at their website how to replace a defective motor 😀

Coincidentally I got another one this evening to repair. A DC20 this time. This nice person also bought 3 in a row, the other 2 are already discarded. Keep believing the hype Cal!

That might be the case. You'll note I have disregarded Dyson's own advice and made their product my #1 vacuum. Why? because the vacuuming doesn't get done near as often if I use the larger and heavier upright. I also don't vacuum in those back corners near as much. I don't pull out things with one hand and vacuum with the other hand with the big unit.

I think you see where this is leading J-P. We might just be the reason many share the feeling about Dyson as do you. You might have already told us, that these same persons who have caused the demise of their units have gone right back and bought another.

They're like fireworks. They don't last that long but people sure like buying them and are happy showing them to their friends. Heck, I have had my living room vacuumed for me because I own one. They are addicting to the uninitiated.
