And what did we buy today?

I got a portable AC because the building doesn't like Window units since a girl was crushed by a falling one a couple of years ago I guess insurance companies are getting funny...

Stupid hose is way to short to be useful. It barely reached from the unit to the window while the unit was on the floor. This morning, the window adapter had come out of the window so now I get to put the damned thing up on concrete blocks (cheaper than building a wood riser for it).

At least it's quiet compared to the two window shakers it replaces... It's inverter, too! No 60Hz humming (can't stand hum).

Radians I posted earlier about arrived a couple of days ago, installed today.

I bought 515 bags of nos components from a shop that closes, I have no clue what's in the bags, just that it is new through hole parts, transistors, diodes, resistors etc, the guy estimated 40-50 kilos.
Will be fun opening.
If I'm really lucky, there will be some papa transistors🙂

The other day I invested in a bunch of various amps and amp kits from Chian:

YDA138-E XH-A355 For Yamaha Amplifier Board 2.1 Channel 2*15W+30W for sub.

TPA3110 XH-A232 30W+30W 2.0 Channel Digital Stereo Audio Power Amp (one $ each - I bought two)

CIRMECH TDA7377 2.1ch amplifier Single power computer super bass 2.1 amplifier - kit

A 5-pack of AD633.

A 5-digit Voltage panel meter.

A lens cap for one of my camera lenses.

Sounds like you scored some "bargain lucky dip/s" there. Last time I used a lucky dip, I put my arm up the vending box and I got smacked on the hand! when I was a mischievous kid.

An old tube tester from the 1930's, a Stark AZ-5. I can't find any information on it.

Opened it up before trying to turn it on and replaced the 90 year old capacitors. After that, it seemed to work as it should. Calibration on this is very loose, but it tested tubes about where I would expect between used and new.

One thing I really liked was the very intelligent questionable area at the top of the scale where they noted that "overactive" tubes were suspect. I was taught to call those tubes bad.

My stupid toilet has been acting up in various ways since our extended water outage a few weeks ago.

The first problem was on me; tore the seal on the fill valve while trying to flush it out after the water came back on. No prob, bought a new valve that's much quieter than the old one anyway.

Next, the tank bolt washers were leaking for a few days (after having dried out I suppose), but before I could go buy some new ones, they apparently re-seated and are fine again. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Last but not least, the plastic locknut on the flush handle did this weird thing where the plastic sort of crystallized? So the threads kind of dissolved? Never seen anything quite like it. The collar is different plastic and is fine, but the nut won't stay tight with no threads!

Went to the hardware store(s), and of course nobody stocks just the lock nut; you gotta buy the whole flush handle assy. with rod, handle, etc. etc. just to get the damn nut. They all look like the same size at least, so I paid the 4 bucks for the cheapest one.

So I get it home & take it out of the bag. The lock nut is screwed down onto the collar so tight that I can't even disassemble the damn thing to install it! It absolutely will not budge.

Normally I wouldn't even bother to return something this cheap, but this thing goes back tomorrow - if only to see how many more of them are in the same condition. Not to mention the irony of the fact that that damn stuck nut is the only part I needed in the first place!! Sheesh. 😡
