Hi, guys!
I managed to secure 4 NOS J74s @ 6.8mA. Still on the lookout for J113s and output IRFs. Any leads?
Regards,
Andy

We only have 4 or 5 tobacco stores in Norway. Maybe I can make the parts myself?
POZ!! (Power of Zardoz)
Or just wait until December when Mouser get’s a new supply. Haha

J113 - you have them , in this moment, at TME and Conrad
IRF - you really have them everywhere
IRF510,520,530,610,620,630

Found em. 610s need matching? Didn’t see mention of it in the article.
Btw. Got hold of NOS J74s @ 6.8mA 😀

Andy, one thing to be mindful of is that depending on the Idss of your j113, you may need to adjust R14 to get about 10mA.
Copy. You told me as much, but wasn’t sure anout the 610s. I thought about the IDSS of the J113 just now. I see they sometimes have IDSS ranges noted. Just order what’s available and adjust R14, or try to find J113s that have ideal IDSS?
I gave you all/enough numbers of IRF which you can put in, with hardly any difference in sound and, yes, no matching needed
regarding J113 - buy them more, then make little jig and fiddle with resistors
in fact, plenty of other JFets can be used in that position, taking care of pinout (just in case) and taking care that brain isn't left in washing machine

This should be your signature quote! You have a way of always making me laugh, while providing incredibly useful advice. Thanks from someone trying to learn.... and taking care that brain isn't left in washing machine

Plenty? I have an extra J74, but that might be either impossible or a bit too luxurious.
Chede used some nice small culinders soldered in the resistor pads on his WLS, so that he could easily swap resistors. Gotta ask him where he got those.
IC sockets, if cumbersome to buy them solo
easy to push them out from plastic
I’ll get to it once I finish my XS300 clones. 😀 Soon as that damn washing machine stops spinning.
Andy, since the j113 is relatively inexpensive, I suggest you just get a bunch. Papa has sprinkled them in a number of recent projects so it doesn't hurt to have some in stock.
One interesting thing is that the j113 has a spec'ed min Idss of 2mA though I've never actually seen one that low. (In fact, all mine are over 10mA). So just pick one with at least 10mA Idss and adjust R14 to suit.

Wilco! Was planning just that, maybe order 20-ish. Have to make a matching jig, I teally teally ned to do that. With my my new fancy bench PSU that is the next step, an exciting one. Prolly will need some guidance for that, but best read up first.
Thanks!!
