this thread has deteriorated into pranks, fart jokes and Mr.Peabody puns...I thought we might get vfet punny for Valentine’s Day, thanks for not disappointing...April fools is already set up (hey you know those 180 vfet channels? Leprechaun gold) we should start setting up Easter and summer solstice humor now, the amp may well be vaperware but the jokes just keep on comin’

since is repeatedly confirmed that Mighty ZM is ungrateful, disrespectful and clueless bstrd, I'm seriously contemplating (second, first one was from Choky) change of screen name/nick, and will ask for Zen Mod Audio

Here's an amp. It's just Nelson's design except (a) the P-channel VFET is replaced by a PNP bipolar transistor; (b) the driver stage is beefed up a little to authoritatively create the BJT base current; ... and (c) TO-3 packages are not used so the heatsinking is a little different. The board is compatible with the diyAudio Store "Universal Mounting Spec" for both PCB mounting holes and also for semiconductor device heatsink attachment bolt holes. Electrically, it mates with the exact same "Front End" circuit boards as the Pass VFET amplifier.

My first run of boards for prototyping, is 2 layers + HASL finish + 1.6mm thick FR4 + 2 ounce thick copper traces. The board width spans two of the 80mm "bays" on a UMS footprint. Its M3 mounting holes are on a 40 x 80 mm grid.

I'll wait till Nelson's amp is disclosed and shipping, before saying much more. Perchance if the prototype is unsuccessful, I won't say much more, ever.

Sadly your right Zen Mod but I’m still aspiring to color (solder) between the lines...I spent last week trying to get my head around 2 short sentences you wrote in the stasis/fe thread..while I agree that ‘indigent audio’ sounds deep and prestigious and knowledgeable it’s probably best translated as ‘cheap audio hack’

we should start setting up Easter and summer solstice humor now

Good humor and members banter, is what sets this forum section apart from other sections (ehm, there is that another thing: unique amplifiers). 😀

I especially like that trolls don’t survive here more than several posts, before being totally annihilated (this comment is not directed toward anyone participating this thread).

All those reaction to the nicoch58 joke show how much we all miss some entertainment. It is all quiet and too serious lately. So, keep up the good work.
I’ll remind everyone that Nelson said, a year and half ago, that he thinks he can commit to release VFET3 in January. Though, he never mentioned which year. All is good. 😀😀

Very cool! I like the idea of the OS being modular like the FE. Maybe this will be the last ‘amp’ I’ll ever ‘need’ 🙂

If all the input and output stages that are currently being discussed or engineered all work and are released, there will be at least 20 different combinations when you mix/match.

Read a new educational article about SE VFet amplifier and learn about topology
and know his audio performance ( good match for some type of the loudspeakers ? etc. ) will be interesting,
even before the amp soldering, build start on the passionate DIYer bench..Please Mr.Pass
🙂 Kind regards
