Salas DCG3 preamp (line & headphone)

Look at the separation of the letter " O " in the word singapOre. Could that mean something? In the photo, the Salas division is vertical. Have thimios at an angle.

Curves trace comparison is the surest way. Thimios's looks close but with small details different. Like the cut angle in that letter you spotted. But also the legs side blade detail where entering the plastic case. Could be batch differences or not.

I checked the JFET with a Chinese probe. The paired transistors in the assembly have exactly the same readings. But the builds themselves are different. Is it possible to draw any conclusions from these indications?

Vgs indicates one package is stronger than the other but I is low in both. Maybe not IDSS just test current. The ZIF socket also mixing sections legs as 1231111. Could be touched to the SMD test pad by three legs section each time too. But you rubberized the tester's surface. SMD pad is now hidden. I have one such multi tester. Shows alike low mA numbers for uPA. Sometimes it also thinks that high transconductance NJFETs are super high Hfe NPN transistors.

You can use both to start, they will bias correctly by the J3 (BF256) current source at their tail, but replace them with less suspect samples as soon as able. To be in the same IDSS range their code must be starting with the same letter. L or M. You now got an L and an M.

*See post #25 for the uPA68H datasheet.

I found in my drawer more authentic jfet 2sk117 and I was able to have two pairs matched 5.82-5.77 and 6.10-6.33 . I put them on and I will agree with what Nick has written before in post #459
I will stay with them and let the υpa68 when come since I know that the 2sk117 I have are authentic.
I really liked the sound I got since what I had 2sk170 was Chinese.

Today I proceeded to another change, I placed the bc560 On semi instead of the bc327-40. I will definitely stay with the bc560 this is my personal choice. More smoothness in the voices, clearer all the musical instruments with one step at more highs, which fits better in my system ...
