TPA3255 - all about DIY, Discussion, Design etc

No..any class d needs its outputs connected. Use a 4 to 8 ohm power resistor if not

Also if that channel will never be used?
If it just means that channel will be fried, but doesn't influence the performance of the other channels, that would be fine :D
This is just out of curiosity though, I'm pretty much convinced by now to buy a 2-channel board and a single channel board from 3E audio, together with their DSP board.

The only thing keeping me from that is I'm still wrapping my head around the whole "connect the boards, configure one as slave" thing.
I'm not sure whether it's necessary for me (making a 3-way speaker), if it is it might be troublesome as the docs state I'd have to solder some surface mount resistor and I'm not comfortable with doing surface mount stuff...

I see 3e have updated their 3255 2 channel. Now has rollable opamps....through hole electrolytics and fast on connections

Yup, I ordered the new version. I hope it sounds better than the older version (which was good but not sonically satisfying). Being able to roll op-amps may make more adjustable to different stereo system setups. We’ll see.

Hi amigos,

About the new 3E Audio TPA3255, revision EAUMT-0260-2-A...
I dont see any removable OP amps. Seems the new version is shipped with some JRC 4580 Op amps.

So my 3E Audio TPA3255 board and Meanwell LRS-350-48 power supply temporary set up is now 2 years old, I think it is about time for a permanent enclosure!! I want to put both in a metal enclosure but have a few queries for those who have done this before.

1. Can I switch the 240V AC on and off with a DPDT switch on the front panel and have the Meanwell completely off when not in use or is it better to switch the DC output?

2. Would a soft start circuit like this Softstart Module 230V 15A for Amplifiers - Audiophonics be of any use?

3. I understand the Meanwells are well protected, would I need a fuse on the AC side?

1. Yes - DPDT switch on the mains is fine
2. You don't really need a soft start
3. It dosen't hurt to have an extra bit of safety

Dani,
After your short review am closely watching the developments in that BRZHiFi amp.
Also they changed
1. toggle switch to push button
2. the caps from electrolytic to SMD type

Does this amp has anti-pop?
How's the volume level when compared to Aiyima A04. (when the tone control is OFF/ON)?

BRZhifi TPA3255 has an anti pop circuit yes ) and absolutely dead silence.
In fact it uses 4 OP amps, 2 are dedicated to Tone Control and 2 for the amp itself. When rolling 4 OPA1656, I really got a great improvement. (I thing the stock ones are fake)
As said in my review, I wonder why they put a 38V PSU instead a 48V one...

Compared to the Aiyima A04 it is pretty close when rolling the new OP amps.

Thanks for the update.
My Aiyima A04 volume level is low, when compared to FX502s PRO, when the POT knob is at same position.

Not sure my unit problem or it's like that.

that's why asking

At 12:00 Brzhifi and Aiyima A04 are pretty the same...
In my previous reviews I already talked about this fact : Chinese TPA3251 vs TPA3255 are very similar in terms of factual power...Theoretically, this shouldn't be the case!

High quality TPA32XX; manufactured in the rules of art, are really more powerful and clearly stand out compared to Chinese productions.
I own many Class D amps and many TPA32XX amps. My high end TPA3251 delivers at least 30% more volume power compared to Aiyima A04. The quality of the components and the PFFB bring a lot (I mean each component : bufffer caps, output filters, Main caps, Inductors, PFFB implementation, PSU quality etc)

This top end TPA 3251 holds the comparison with my Double Mono Hypex Ncore for example.
