GB For Salas I-Select Mesmerize Type input selector and volume control

Just installed the I-Select into my BA-3 preamp now I don't have the single going through that creep selector switch. Thanks to Salas and Teabag for making this all possible.

You are welcome. Looking good. By the way, did the UBiB PSU help your sound?

Did it help the sound?

Well it's the only power supply I used in the BA-3 I can't compare one form another. But I can say this my voltages are rock solid as for the sound I was using a Hagerman Clarinet tube preamp which I liked except for the low level hum I was getting that I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. With the BA-3 in system now which has just over 100,hrs is more open bigger soundstage and is dead quite especially when using my TT which is most important to me. The bass is fast and deep you can really hear the weight of the piano keys I haven't yet to A/B it to my tube pre because I am enjoying the BA-3 to much if the UBIB is helping with my foot tapping then I am a have camper I just purchased another set of UBIB PCB's for future projects 🙂

Happy that you like it. Since you upgraded the selector switch to relays, a thing left to explore is the pot I guess. Try a TKD too at some point if you fancy. Its surely better made inside than the blue ALPS and many rave about its sound but expensive. Thankfully there is also an affordable small sized one the 601 still recommended as better enough than the ALPS. Unfortunately only available in 10k or 100k. Don't know if BA-3 is alright with 10k though. Because 100k has too much output impedance for best results with solid state so exclude it.

TKD Potentiomters

Yes it is almost universally well regarded. Usually offered in 10k 50k 100k log options but Hi-Fi Collective in the UK also sells a 20K log TKD 2511. Surprisingly in its MC motorized version it offers rather good value. Because pricing stays unusually near to the manual version for a boutique pot.

Salas, this is for my "Salas pre" which is uBiB1.3 DCG3 and I'm thinking I select. Only 2 inputs, DAC (TBD) and eventually phono. To feed, starting with Aleph J, M2X, and Bablefish M25 or Sissy Sit. All dual mono. Would I be best off with 20k or 50k version? Is my topology off base?
I plan to post pics of my builds prior to connecting 2nd end of wires. Got to get all the pieces parts laid out in the box though. This is all very scary for a newbie

Thanks for all you do and the boards are great.
Regards,
Don

Salas, thank you. I just want you to know that I so use the other threads. I have read yours more than once. The DCG3 thread is 450 pages long (credits). Add all the other relative threads and it is thousands of pages. And, for a neophyte, it is like memorizing "War and Peace". I am so appreciative of your efforts it is hard to explain. I wish I didn't have to bother you with questions that have been answered. Maybe it is a failure to understand DIYaudio search. This is diy and not google. I am open to anyone who can chime in and help with the search situation.
Thank you for all you do to help and the great products you bring. I am obviously frustrated by bothering you with the situation. Sorry.
Regards,
Don

You don't bother me at all. I just said to use the tech threads for further course of build display and questions so such type of content remains there all together. Those threads are long mainly because of iterative course of builds display and assistance through enough years. No need to memorize. The main info is in first post guides. Important posts links are also included in post #1 of those threads.

Still they are a nice read following the historic course of threads full of projects and results from fellow builders when having time. Build examples, ideas, evaluations, and problem solving. Yes they are a kind of long diy novels with many heroes and battles. Won by the hot iron in the thick of solder fumes. Comfortably the only losses can be few broken semiconductors. 🙂

This is diy and not google. I am open to anyone who can chime in and help with the search situation.

As far as I can tell you can't search for short individual terms (3 letters or less?) using DiyAudio search, which is frustrating when you want to only find results with something like 'F5' in them.

But you can use Google to search DiyAudio only if you preface your search query with 'site:diyaudio.com'. So, for example, if you are looking for info about LEDs to use on F5 boards, do a Google search for:

site:diyaudio.com F5 LED

This works well, but it won't let you search for results confined to a specific thread.

The above tip is a good one and it is a method I use all the time . Even if searching for a particular semiconductor or other electronic component, I may narrow it down to search this site alone and then I get the opinion of others on here on what it is I'm researching.
And I too would personally echo DonHughes sentiments. Being a relative beginner in all this myself also, and having various Salas projects either completed ( DCSTB dual on DCG3, 3x L Ad ) and in the pipeline Ubibs, the hand holding along the way from Salas and others has been both exemplary and a saviour.
