I'd like to ask for some advice please.
I tried to make some bread
3.5 cups flour
1 cup milk
1/3 cup water
etc...
My kitchen aid ultra power 300 watt stand mixer stalled, produce a whining sound that increased in pitch (as I got up and started to run to the mixer) and then made a snapping sound and no longer works. I use it quite a bit but this is the first time I tried to make some bread with it.
I need to buy I new stand mixer (I use it a lot.) How much power do you think I need in a stand mixer? Does anyone make bread themselves? What type of stand mixer do you use?
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks....

If you are going to make bread you need the 600 series. It's a bowl lift, not a tilt model.
Empire Red Professional 600 Series 6 Quart Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer KP26M1XER | KitchenAid
They do go on sale from time to time but now you're without a mixer so...
Look around you might some good deal somewhere.
We are very happy with ours.
EDIT: I have just looked an no one seems to have them on sale right now, at least what I could find.

Thanks Cal, I like the kitchenaid (made in USA means something in my opinion.)
Not exactly the best time to be shopping, I'll see what I can get on amazon (I see one for $550, that seems like a good price.)
My pleasure FM,
You'll be amazed at how much pain that machine can inflict if you're impatient like me and try to scrape the slides of the bowl to continue mixing, without shutting it off.

I'm surprised, they use numerous colored salts in India for ages. Kala namak - Wikipedia Khewra Salt Mine - Wikipedia
My MIL has very little truck with certain Indian cuisines! Big country after all 🙂. But she does know the best hing to get!

Same reason I am using a 50 year old Kenwood that I remember my mother using when I was little. But bread dough in any quantity would still kill it and I'd need the next model up. But I went heathen and bought a panasonic bread maker which works for our current lifestyle. At least if there was any bread flour on the shelves 🙁
I’ve followed this recipe a number of times in the last decade. No bread mixer needed.
A few weeks back our grocery had no bread on the shelves! I think I bought the last jar of yeast in our state at that time.
I understand this bread recipe was also featured in NY Times, so likely you’ve all seen it before: No-Knead Bread | Oregonian Recipes
Stay safe and healthy!

My friends here are Gujarati, I know there are 50+ cuisines in India just thought that the pink salt being from Punjab it would be more familiar here.
I went to our local Asian food store today to pick up some things I needed. First thing I noticed was that almost all the Asian shoppers and every single store employee had a face mask on. Some of the shoppers had face shields on too. That made me feel safe. Also there were far fewer non-Asian shoppers there. So the store was less crowded. That also made me feel safe. With less shoppers at there store they had a good supply of general purpose flour, bread flour and cake flour. There were no bare shelves.
I think people are avoiding Asian food stores. Because of this they now have better supplies of food (and toilet paper.)
I would suggest shopping at your local Asian food store for a more complete selection of food and greater safety.

Our local Asian mart is becoming the go-to. We're supposed avoid the other topic -- but just know that face masks barely help at best (and actually properly fit, which is essentially no one), so assume folks *aren't* wearing them even if they are.
No matter the shape ( and for whatever reason )
I find :
All Pastas - Dreamfields Foods
to be way more tastier and satisfying than any other
brand .
No offence intended but I wouldn't do business with any company engaging in blatant fraud.

Apparently you're not familiar with commerce in Canada.
Right . I ' ve ordered drivers from Solen ,
but that ' s the other direction .
Found that the Orowheat outlet store is closed now, but got lucky and found a few loaves at the dollar store of all places, was $1 a loaf. Filled a shelf in our bigger freezer.
Nothing like homemade but is the best I’ve found in stores around here anyways.

I confirmed with wife and her mother does use rock salt (including on water melon). But the pink salt is from the wrong half of punjab. Sad but true.
