I had build an electric fence to prevent my cat from pis.ing in the plants with a flip flop and a car electronic ignition. It worked very well.

I personally don't use cable lifters for practical reasons, but I see nothing wrong with using them, and I can see why they might make a difference. What do you guys care?

Depends on the construction quality of the connectors. Big heavy cables will exert great force on them. Cable lifter will reduce the force.
