THD and frequency response measurements
Hi,
Did anybody try measuring the THD and the Frequency response of this DAC kit? Just curious?
Many thanks

Just finished building the kit. Mostly used components in hand. No special components used. Measured responses attached. 20kHz low pass filter is used.
Any recommendations for further measurements?
The right channel has slightly more distortion+N than Left channel. I think it is due to more noise in the right channel.
Listening preference: I still prefer my DIY TDA1541 DAC.

Sorry to hijacking this thread, don't want to start new one.
Question is simple: I have an old dac9 ak4399 by Weiliang, which is collecting dust on my shelf. I want to get back to diy, and questioning myself whether I should upgrade this dac to something newer and possibly do more diy or keep using this one.
I am planning to connect it to Moode via Rpi.
Thank you

akm dacs are great but looks like newer are more complex and not so diy, for me R-2R sign magnitude ladder dac took me by surprise such a big difference I shelved the aya2 and my AKM4395 dac which are great dacs,
Hi Guys,
Late discovery, ordered this kit to build for a friend. This thread is very long, may I ask if there's any update or mods being done to this dac ? Also I've a 600-600 ohm line trafo,
can it be use to bypass the op amp stage ?
Thanks Gents

Hi Guys..... This particular layout exists in 3 versions.... AK4393, AK4396 & Cirrus Logic CS4398. The CS4398 version sounds far superior to the AK´s.
Some years ago I built dac´s for 4 friends. They all had the opportunity to listen to all 3 versions, and they all without hesitation preferred the Cirrus Logic 🙂

Hi Guys
If anyone is reading this a little advice pls. I've build this kit & it works but I've encountered a strange problem. When signal from source is locked at times there's no sound, I have to power off dac & power up again to get sound & at times I have to do it 2-3 times. Anyone ever encountered this & is there a solution ?
Thks

Pardon for hijacking thread but I need some help with on off switch wiring for (another) dac.
Would you please help me?

Split the red wire and and connect both ends to the switch.
Also It should really have an inline fuse.

Has anyone else experienced the issue with this dac connected through usb that windows volume control doesn't work?
I've updated all possible drivers, yet the issue remains

Nevermind the solution was to download and install a driver package mentioned in the first post here:
DAC: CS4398 with CS8416+CM102s

Iobit seems rather controversial. There is quite a bit of discussion about it out on the net.
I've been trying to find the right way use this dac without the opamp output filter. My preamp will be mounted in the same enclosure, and it already has 2 opamp stages.
I read a bunch of different things, so I hope someone could explain me how to use the output from the chip directly. How do I go from balanced output of the chip to unbalanced?
What value output capacitors would be recommended? The DAC output wire runs directly to a preamp mounted in the same chassis, no more then 5cm wire length
