Have a Nephew moving to States in few days ,he was there for a year or so and succeeded in complicating own life , falling in love in Florida
So , I promised to make him head-amp to bring with him.
'nuff said , except - Kudos and Thank You - to Wayne , straightforward and easy , of course that you can't expect anything else from Funny Firm 🙂
My build is , in fact , pretty much quick'n'dirty approach - changes on the fly .... somewhere smaller caps , somewhere larger caps, regs ditto to 15V (Donut is dual primary wired for 115Vac , but secs are nominally 15Vac) , pot is clickety 220Klin jobbie , shunted with 33K so pretty nice log law with precise channel balance ... old heatsinks , raw case etc.
sound is good , everything stable , no problems

Zen Mod, doesn't WAF count a bit more in this case? You might complicate your nephew's life even more.

I think alu-knob fits better to the chassis "design". Probably also a better "feel" than the small plastic knob. Alu-knob could be "brushed-up".
believe it or not , Al knob (4mm shaft , so that causing troubles with knob choice ) is from olde Korting A100 integrated
hm, even mentioned 220Klin pot is from same amp , superduper quality , seen low action , being either treble or bass
salvaged several of these amps during the years , mostly as trash bin parts donors
however , they had nice potted Donuts (one per amp) and 2 of these are proudly powering my DEFiSIT now
will change vol button for something nicer , as soon I find where I left small bag of 4 to 6 shaft adapters (sleeve, practically)

I have never thought about buying old amps to get cheap alu knobs and other fine parts. Seems to be one here:

It is strange Alps does not make these BB anymore if they are a class better than the Blue. The only pot that seems to be above the blue it this one:

Good lord! A $400 pot? It would go well with some $1k speaker and interconnect cables...
that funny looking "DACT type"** thingie is worth every cent , I hear
speaking of resistive attenuators , that's it ..... and I either had them or still have them all , worth having
if you want to go Berserk , AVC is the way , though to some not worth greenies and hassle
for me , it is way of solving few things with one stroke
