Holy cognitive dissonance, Batman - absent a Masters degree in psychology, how can I understand that two or more opposing views might be felt equally valid by those holding them without rending the fabric of space/time?
As the late Terry Crabbe once noted to me “careful in your selection of gurus, Chris- they/we all have feet of clay”

So do I have it correct that the + and - (green/clear) are interwoven only separated by a shellac type coating?
Yes.

That is a good one that i had not heard Chris. And to those who are saying WTF, Terry was a hifi guru to a huge number of (generally very happy) people.

"Then you must be deaf or have crap equipment" is the sort of thing some here might say......Well in a sense the wire is all part of the xo.....just as the speaker itself is.
I don’t like having to eq for playback.....it always seems to mess with something even it fixes the initial problem.

You wouldn’t say that would you Scott!
I read the original paper from Belden before he started selling his snake oil and he said he didn't listen to the cables didn't know if there was any audible difference, and did no listening tests. He even said if there was any audible difference it would be very small. Guess that wouldn't sell his cables. He now seems to have left Belfen ( or Belden asked him to leave ) but uses there name to pursue his career as snake old salesman. His papers are all about measuring cable extremes, not about cable sound because he knows cables don't make an audible difference.
Simulate any fancy cable EQ before you buy!
Before you buy your high capacitance, high inductance .... fancy cable, to perform high powered passive EQ on your system, you can just perform the same EQ with a couple of clicks in JRiver DSP Studio. Maybe we could get these high end cable guys to release the expected EQ settings that match what their cables do to each kind of speaker so you could simulate before you buy.

I'd rather use tone controls for fine tuning
It seems like high end preamps tend not to have tone control. Some of the regular receiver stuffs have the though. It's not being embraced by high end market.

That's interesting. Do you happen to have the link to that? I definitely would like to know. If he said that before, you can challenge him at his own thread at PS Audio

He probably knew the lcr of the coat hanger and set it up matched with system requirements.
Nope, it isn't in my arsenal of stock FUD phrases
Had to Google that to be sure - ya Scotsmen have some pretty strange words.

I had too google it too....in northern Scotland it’s a reference to the female nether regions, but I’m thinking that’s not the use here.

Well, the McIntosh Labs - now in their 70th year - products continue to.

I had thought it described (US) IBM's practices mid-century.
Apparently there are several memories, and the phrase is older, but not Scots.
