Hello all a simple question. Each amp has about 116 Ellytic caps 12 39k uf alone per amp Date on amp and Caps 1995 So the question is when do I change caps I am the second owner first person is dead can't ask Using them on my IRS V setup. Amps sound fine no noise I can hear and sound is great once they warm up. Need an honest answer I can do it or have united radio do it. What do I do. ?? I Jane the amps one year testing amps is spec Really need advice please bias voltage, and cause grid current.

Hahaha sorry did not have my glasses on. And my iPhone changes words too. Sorry man I own the amps one year I tested dc offset at outputs and have done dummy loads and scoped the amps Each amp has about 126 caps of this 12 large 39000 uf caps Does anyone have advice. Most of the caps are soldered. Any advice ?

Caps are not losing their capacity when not under power.
So it is not important what age the amp has, but how many hours it has been used. Mark Levinsonson uses top quality components and their el. caps are long life 110 degrees versions, lasting under normal load at least 10.000 hours.
But I would say, don’t repair something that’s not broken.

The Mark Levinson No.33 used 12 power supply caps 39000uF/100V AT 95C on each amp so you need 24 caps for both mono blocks. The original cap was not Philips. They used United Chemicon also you need 1900uF/150V for regulator supply.
I have sold 3 sets for ML-No 33. It is not your cheap U36D cap from UCC. They are United Chemicon 36DA series 95C caps these are UCC more expensive caps.

Cornell Dubilier also makes these caps. Same diameter and length but they are super expensive. Only Cornell and United make these caps.

Noble is the effort...

I bought all caps through mouser it's what they said at first then a few weeks later July.
I called them directly to confirm all caps by info on caps
I agree there is Alt ones but since this is what mine had I was afraid to use alts for sound changes

Congratulations on your purchase ALRAINBOW!!!

Compliments to you for moving forward to restore the amps.
Noble is the effort to maximize the performance of
these venerable amps, paired with 'those' speakers;
the results will be apparent, much warranted.

My No. 336 was recapped in 2009~ several filter caps failed,
so we replaced all the screw terminal PS caps. There was a change
from the original caps, to a different brand, I believe outlined elsewhere.

KUDOS Man~

That is long wait from mouser for the 24 power supply caps made by United Chemi-Con. They are okay caps 2nd best made of US and foreign components meaning Asia. The cap will not say made in USA like Cornell Dubilier.

This is the best caps for No.33

These caps are rated for 105C higher than the UCC the reason Levinson uses UCC they are lower price. sound will not change with CDE. You are fine with the original caps. Since there is only UCC and CDE make these no others.
Yes mouser takes time they are authorized vendor of UCC and CDE. They will charge over $100 for Cornell caps.
I have an account with CDE and UCC i buy straight from the factory.
Good Luck with your cap replacement.

Ty it's is very hard to get info on the caps much less amps
I offered 100 each to get them faster. I own a home near them down south
I called them too. I got no where it making it happen.
If there are a better OEM I would gladly but them
I have an approved list from tech support in Jersey
But this too seemed fruitless.
In the end I have boxes of caps ready to install.
I can't find anyone who has the service Manuel either.
Mine are 125 volt I want to convert to 220 volt
While I see what I need to do I won't try it without the service manual.
I found a place to do it but after conversations with tech they need parts no one has.
But it's not a must have part it's just terminal blocks and fuse holders. Anyway let's see after recap how it goes.
I don't want to open up each amp multiple times for this so I wait
Thanks for the replies. If anyone has the device manual please contact me.
Thanks

Thanks in advance

Thanks

I've seen many pieces of audio equipment work perfectly, even 40 or more years old.
I would gently wipe the heat sink with a dry cloth, and check the tightness of the output
transistor mounting screws.

I plan to go through all of it once I do caps
Partly is no manual to know tork pressure.
I do see a few caps were changed
Same brand and model newer date codes
Both amps too.
I'll post pics as I do it.
