Veganism

So is it exploitation to skin a naturally deceased cow to make shoes or meat for the table? Is it explotation to milk a cow that is lactating? Is it cruelty to let animals run wild without basic veterinarian care? Is it cruelty to let wild animals starve during a drought?

So it is not veganism to boast about how much more moral you are than the average human?
Every vegan is different, although they have to be careful what they say, some have said it's ok to eat road kill, for example. Again, they use a certain interpretation of "exploitation", I've lost count of the number of times David Attenborough has used the term when describing how all other life forms on Earth survive. Of course none of them get hung up about morals

If permaculture, vegan or otherwise, can reverse the UK's growing dependence on food imports then that will be something to celebrate.

Over the past 30 years food produced in the UK, as a percentage of the total needed to feed the population, has declined from 74 to 60 percent.

More than 18 million tonnes of food are imported through Britain's sea ports each year - do we really need to import chicken from Taiwan and strawberries from Egypt?

We could all do more to nurture increases in domestic food production - make a start by reading the label!

The Vegan Society's definition of veganism:

"Veganism is a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose."

With this is mind, my question is: What about sheep farmers in areas similar to where I live, that is, poor, rugged land where the only crops that grow successfully are grass and trees, what are their alternatives?

Eat grass

Haha, probably the more palatable of the two

I was being sarcastic. I’m a vegetarian and I hug trees given half a chance. I eat fish, eggs and drink milk but no cheese using animal rennet or gelatin derived products.

But, I believe feedback makes better amplifiers and DBT are the only way subjective claims can be verified.

Attached is a beautiful display of Scottish salt marsh thrift at Loch Gruinart, Islay

I also checked up on the sheep:

"All Gower Salt Marsh Lamb is fully traceable and are born on the farms where they live and spend most of their lives grazing the salt marsh, the marshes contain a natural abundance of Samphire, Sorrel, Sea lavender and Thrift."

Vegan , I'd love to.
But , can't afford the fancy organic food stores.
And , Walmart vegan selection is either rotton , dated , or unavailable.
In the summer , even summer squash and tomato's are of dubious quality here..
Tennessee is the 3'rd most obese US state. Meat rulez here.
When I had cultivatable land , my family was 75%+ "vegan". Where I am
now , fast food rules.
