I thought the appeal of tilapia was that they can live in what is almost raw sewage.

One wiki said that was the original reason for bringing to US. They can eat almost anything. The idea was to rid power station cooling ponds of invasive plants. But hey why stop there?


One wiki said they can metabolize heavy metals and pharmaceutical waste.

I guess you can feed them pureed circuit boards?

I have spent more time reading this thread than other combined since joining this forum two days ago.

Have always been wondering, How does one know if he or she can be a vegetarian/vegan? Is it for everyone or one has to be of certain genetic backgrounds? Like, can Eskimos be vegetarians?

What are nutritionally comparable plant-derived replacements for animal proteins/vitamins/cofactors etc.?
 
Fish was never into heavy metal - his genre was neo-progressive rock! :)
