George, it looks like you are having fun with your system, but with your arrangement as I see it you have you have no hope of precise imaging or flat response, and with so much reflections you ain't ever going to optimise or hear time alignment.

Yep. Everyone can rationalize their own LIKES. Then, we can put engineering and science aside. The books on hall acoustics (all of which I have also) are nice for what they talk about and build. You aint got that in your living room and never will. Get over it. Little there is going to make your home system reproduction more accurate.

As they say, “The number one disadvantage of omnidirectional speakers is also the root of their greatest attribute” (live with the room).

I wouldn’t be able to control my unrest if I had to close my eyes before trying out OBs and omnis :D

IMO, one of the great motivations in the DIY audio world is that provided by the documentation of Siegfried Linkwitz work.
It is a pity not to try his elegantly simple constructions and listen to the music through them.

Regarding loudspeaker –room integration, I consider Richard’s quest for accuracy an eligible, worth pursuing task.
Only it requires adherence to certain rules and conditions that change the mode of listening to the music. This is not for me (a personal opinion, not criticism)

It's physically not possible in my living room.

What use are back to back transformers for me? I use batteries and Jan's silentswitcher for low level stuff.

Well sounds like you are stuck with what you have. No improvement possible if you say so.

Regarding the isolation and filtering on the ac line.... A lot of broad band freq are on the ac line..... if you have any gear that isn't battery powered, you will most likely benefit.

I am sure there are many who don't have your impossible situation and will be able to enjoy greater accuracy at no cost.

I use a double-Pi network on the tube amps I design and get hum and noise down to below 10mV on the centre-tap on the output transformer, then add another solid state inductor = 100H (OK, that is calculated, but whatever is, it is a lot) and get down to uV level. Can you hear it? You bet!

BTW --- There are some solvable issues... minor... but headphones definitely don't have any room influence on the sound. About as near-field as you can get. Try my headphone amplifier in Linear Audio.

I only use electrostatic headphones. I use them at night when family in bed and very nice they are to, so thank you for the kind offer, but your headphone amplifier is of zero use to me.
