I was thinking about cutting away the wood base to follow the heatsinks ‘V’ to allow more convection air flow. Currently, they reach 55°C at the top of sink.

cur entire wood protruding/terrace ....... leave just a notch for baseplate of htsnk(5mm or so)

do few slits (router) on bottom plate ....... do same on top plate

it'll be hot in case , when closed ; heatsink is hot at back side ....

I will address the cooling issues before I listen long term. The Big MoFo needs large heat sinks 😀

I cut back the base to expose heat sink fins and temperatures dropped
from 55°C to 47°C 🙂

I don't think so.
The power dissipated by the electronics is constant. The rate of heat transfer is higher due to more airflow, so all else being equal, the difference between temperature of heat sink and temperature of surroundings is lower.
