So my post was tongue in cheek first off, but (for audio at least) metadata is textual data that is included in the music file's package that tells you the artist, song title, track number, album, etc., etc.. One of the categories is genre, so it wouldn't be too hard to have the computer read this text data and load the appropriate DSP filter coefficients. (I'm thinking from a linux script perspective at least)

I just made a "Lifetime Buy" of BF862 JFETs @ Arrow ; Mouser & DigiKey have none

It appears the supply is gradually drying up; zero in stock and zero on order at Mouser. Zero in stock and "Last Time Buy" status at DigiKey.

Arrow in the US has stock, so I bought 500 pieces while I still can. Recommend others do the same. Arrow's price was quite good; use Octopart.com to do a comparison against other sellers, domestic and overseas. Free shipping to California but sales tax was charged.

distortion graphs for M2 compression driver (D2430K) on audioheritage site

D2430K compression driver information? - Page 5

cheers
Alan

WoW. that is really good. -60-80.

-----------------------
A lot (most all) driver tests are in near field and thus high spl can be easily measured when up close and personal.
105dB is easy to get... easier on PRO type speakers. No one would assume that at a listening distance that the spl would be that high.

I had been on a quest to find out why all sound was compressed compared to live sound. I believed it was done at the studio. I found that assumption was not true with the M2. It was the drivers used in most speaker systems. The same CD recordings had significantly, measurably greater acoustic output for peaks like I never saw or heard before. Much less compression and greater dynamic range from the M2. JBL touts this in their lit as well. And, should not be over looked as a problem for accurate or realistic reproduction.

There are some who just keep on saying you cant hear this or that... and are ready to jump on the band wagon of anyone who agrees with their bias.

News flash...... a highly recommended SMPS at DIYAudio was just tried to power Damir's amp - one channel. The amp was both noisier and distortion was higher by 10-12 times.
