Pano: Interesting point. From one view this is one of the first (depending on how you view adjust+) test records designed to work in conjunction with a PC then we need some markers to potentially allow code to know where it is, but do we need the added voice over?
If L=999.7222 Hz and R=1000.27777 Hz, they will be 180° apart in ½ rev and in phase after 1 rev.
That's the one I was thinking of, one complete cycle, and yes it's .55555555Hz not .55.
Pano - The voice on the CBS disks sounds like Lily Tomlin doing the phone operator routine.

Ah yes, that works well. Here it is.If L=999.7222 Hz and R=1000.27777 Hz, they will be 180° apart in ½ rev and in phase after 1 rev.

I always have a hard time figuring out where the crossover test signal are and an even harder remembering which was the left and which the right channel track. So if space needs to be filled I either want an hyptnotic track that helps my brain with braining or a bit of extra spacing between tracks.
How much does Michael Buffer charge for voice work?
I have a local DJ who does the voice overs for the tests CDs I have done in the past. He thinks it is cool.

Anyone here know David Attenborough and can pull a favor?
Thanks, for those!I always have a hard time figuring out where the crossover test signal are and an even harder remembering which was the left and which the right channel track.
- 3150Hz Speed, wow+flutter
- 1kHz Reference level 5cm/sec, distortion, phase
- Left identification
- Right identification
- Signal in phase
- Signal out of phase
- Pink Noise (level?)
- White noise (level?)
- Full range sweep @5cm/sec - FR and EQ As extended FR as possible.
- same 24dB below reference
- same 18dB below reference
- same 12dB below reference
- same 6dB below reference
- same @ reference
- same 6dB above reference
- same 12dB above reference (if possible)
- Rotating phase
- L+R
- L-R
- Crosstalk test
- Silent Groove for Rumble (maybe locked)
- Low frequency sweep for cart & arm resonance
There are no trackability, LF stability (resonance), VTA, azimuth nor wear tests in that list.....😕
Heading for the double gatefold or that difficult third album........?

Looking good!
If we have space, I would like to add square wave test and tone burst tests.

Can't believe nobody has said Morgan Freeman or Patrick Stuart.
Dats why you copy, paste and add to da list, Dog. 😉There are no trackability, LF stability (resonance), VTA, azimuth nor wear tests in that list.....😕
Trackability - was said not to be needed
LF Stabilty - see low freq sweep
VTA -What you got?
Azimuth - what you got? Want them at a specific radius?
Can't believe no one suggested Pee-Wee Herman...
How about Billy Gibbons? He did some public service announcements for McCarren airport some years ago IIRC....

Hi Pano,
Consider giving a few tracks as much time as you can to fill any unused space. I can see the W&F test (3150 Hz) and the crosstalk test needing long play back times for running tests. Same for the rumble track.
I'm not sure that spoken announcements would be that useful. We can read the liner notes and count the tracks. At the most, maybe a computer voice indicating track number would be sufficient.

I really can't see a serious need for those either.Trackability - was said not to be needed
LF Stabilty - see low freq sweep
I'd really wonder about this as well. However these might make a suite of tests for LP number 2. Basically signals used to set systems up where LP number 1 would be more for technical testing of the equipment. There are some W&F tests where you have to wait longer for the system to act up. Consider putting the W&F and speed tests in the first couple tracks since the effects would be amplified by being in those first tracks. A speed test track near the beginning and another nearer the centre would show how much the table is affected by drag forces from the stylus. One would hope there would be zero difference.VTA -What you got?

I can't see any stylus tracking a square wave cut into the record. It would be pointless to do this. Tone bursts have similar issues. You are dealing with a mechanical system that has mass (inertia) concentrated in a really hard substance (the diamond tip) vs. soft vinyl. Any bets who the winner in that contest is going to be? One ex-record track the first time you play it.I would like to add square wave test and tone burst tests.

Skip RIAA and these are just tri-wave cuts assuming velocity sensitive transducer and work quite well. There are a set in the RCA series.
