Chinese made, mostly knock off european designs
So their Be and ceramic dome tweeters came up on a google search - curiosity got the better of me. Neo magnet motor, some copper to be seen, reasonable looking response, but not much more info ie the purity of their domes etc.

Anyone tried their products? Dare one say they don't look too bad at first glance. but I guess there's an old adage to be mentioned at some point.

Why not first try some less expensive stuff from that brand first? See how real they are. If you try something fancy first, well at least the brand name is not Frank N. Stein. And they are pretty.
Yeah I checked the reviews. 97% are happy with their products. Why not first try some less expensive stuff from that brand first? See how real they are. If you try something fancy first, well at least the brand name is not Frank N. Stein. And they are pretty.
The ceramic dome looked v tempting but one not so great review put me off.
I have been seing David Louis tweeters on ebay for a couple of years now and came to a conclusion that it's not worth taking a chance while there is so many good quality units from reputable manufacturers. The best sounding cheap dome tweeter available in Croatia used to be Monacor DT 99, and then something happened and it became significantly pricier, probably thanks to a positive review in a DIY magazine. lol
I've been tempted but sanity got the best of me. I checked them out a while ago and it seems that everything they sell is a Knock Off. If they made something on their own with a proper chinese name I may move on one. But, as is, no way.
Copper and Be? We've been down this road before with the fake Be tweets from Usher, haven't we? If so, then the Be part is pretty much a hoax.

we live in a world where "aluminum case" can mean dull-silver colored plastic with thin steel corners. For domes, I'd stick with Morel or Tymphany.

That's so true. And without sending samples out to test, there is no way for DIYers to know the true performance. Or maybe that's the idea
A friend passed over their Be and ceramic domes for evaluation. The Be is a thin Be coating over a copper dome. It sounded quite lifeless and undynamic. The treble had no sustain. It was there and gone. The ceramic was a bit nicer to listen to but not up to my reference ScanSpeak silk domes. I understand copper is very heavy compared to silk or genuine Be. Not my cup of tea at all. For the same or cheaper the Scan or SB silk domes are far better.
I recently bought their Alpine HIEND tweeters. Both have misaligned domes in regard to the waveguides. Visibly crooked, other one even had a big dent on it. Not going to buy again.
Thank your friend for us. And you for reporting on them.
Could you(or someone near you) get us some measurements? I'm having the usual "divided by a common language" problem. I get that there was something unpleasant in the sound, but if I said the sound was undynamic it would mean too much sustain(energy retention). There and gone means to me that the sound stops when the signal stops. Which being good is obviously not what you mean. If the price plummets someone might try them if we know it's a wide dip or slope in the upper range, but a real hole and it's hopeless.

I don't really understand what you mean by this.
Sustain is something I look for in an instrument but in speakers I try to avoid it like the plague.
The remainder of your post is easily enough for me not to try these tweets though so thank you for your comments.
Just had a thought- how do you recycle/dispose of beryllium? It's very reactive and incredibly toxic when exposed. It is coated or anodised when used. There does not seem to be any labeling to say be careful.
Okay. Looked up usage and disposal. Only uncompounded beryllium is so reactive. Alloys are, in fact rather stable. Copper/Beryllium alloys are used to protect electronics in marine environments.
Only unalloyed beryllium requires unusual care in handling.
So where does this leave us? The fancy manufactures tout "high purity". This means that the alloy is not impure, not that it is not an alloy. The claim of deposition must mean that a high Be alloy is deposited on a Cu alloy. It won't be pure copper, as oxidation would add mass, and for a tweeter dome it would be significant.
So I'm not so worried. Except about the price.

Think of the difference between a regular bell and a cracked one. On fine twinkly percussion the initial "ting" dies away rapidly in an unnatural way.I don't really understand what you mean by this.

Okay, I think I'm getting you. There's likely a nasty hole in the upper end response. Oh well. I guess you could use them in a noisy place where you can't hear the top octave anyway. Or for someone who likes pretty and has hearing losses.
Steve Mowry has done some exhaustive investigations of Beryllium and so-called "Bogusium" and "Deceptium" diaphragms.
