Are there any advantages of converting the rpi i2s to i2s(lvds/hdmi) and using the sk1021 i2s(hdmi) - in?

Or is it just as good as connecting rpi i2s direct to the sk1021 via J11 or direct coupled to the dac as I have?

I will test both options as I have several small pcbs i2s to i2s(lvds) - hdmi tranceivers produced.

Under is my prelimenary setup. rpi direct coupled via hifiberry digi+ pro to the dac for the time being. Tapping 5vdc to the rpi from the sk1021.

Success. Testing rpi i2s to i2s(lvds/hdmi) and using the sk1021 i2s(hdmi) - in.
Works like a charm after some "fiddling".
Unable to tell if there are any changes in sound between i2s direct or converted to lvds.
They both sound excellent 🙂 With this setup using the rpi as a standalone streamer to the sk1021/dam1021 will be a great setup 🙂

Thanks for testing! So it doesn't matter how I connect it, they both work fine?

With hdmi is neater, but more parts:scratch: Else I need to make a nice 5 pin connector. Or put the rpi in the dac hahaha!

I have a Soekris DAM1121-01 due to be delivered today and have an AudioZen SK Lite on its way to me so I'm work on how I'll implement my DAC build.

A question: Unlike the DAM1021, the DAM1121 only has one means of connecting the SK Lite, pins 10 & 12 of J2. With the SK Lite connected how can I use a serial interface to upload new filters? Can I just connect a serial interface to J2-10 & J2-12 along with the SK Lite or does it require some sort of switching arrangement? Thanks.

How is IR input selection achieved between AUTO-->SPDIF-->AES-->USB-->I2S-->Toslink-->AUTO ?

It toggles SPDIF1 +/- also?

same as dam1021.No additional features added.
