Moode Audio Player for Raspberry Pi

I have donated and will install 3.5 soon.

I have a few thoughts about the new subscription approach which others may wish to comment on.

I see the advantage of the subscription method is Tim remains motivated and we continue to get updates to this great software.

I see the disadvantage is the new user cannot try it out unless they donate. Someone who hasn't used it before is likely to be attracted to runeaudio or volumio as they are free. Slowly over time the user base will diminish and Tim's motivation to update Moode will similarly diminish.

To avoid this happening, I suggest an older version (eg 3.1 currently) remain available to download for free so people can try it out. Those who want to remain on the cutting edge like most of us here will continue to donate.

First, no problem seeing the value, I just enthusiastically paid for the update even though I was perfectly happy with 3.1. Tim is doing fantastic work and he deserves reward for it.

But I also see the point from above. I tried MoOde because the first try cost me nothing, but am now a loyal customer because it worked so well. Finding a business model that still makes it accessible to the first time user but also encourages payment for the value Tim generates would be beneficial. Not sure what the right balance is, but I think there is a valid point here.

Don't like to talk about other projects but on rune audio i saw it can do it throught a chrome instance... it shows the album cover and some info about it.. :)

That wasn't a stock installation of Rune, was it? Afaik Rune is headless, just like Moode

I thought you were asking about as it is installed, not a modified installation.

Yes, it's possible - install a GUI-based UI on Moode OS.

Hi,

I have a test bugfix update ready and need some volunteers to try it out. If you would like to give it a go, email tim at moodeaudio dot org and I'll provide instructions.

You would need to be able to use ssh terminal to run a few commands that configure Moode to see the test update, and then after its applied via "CHECK for software update, VIEW/INSTALL" on System config, run a few more commands to verify some things.

The test update fixes the bugs listed below and also updates the in-place updater to use the very nice Amazon CloudFront going forward.

Below is list of whats covered in the update.

Updates

- UPD: switch to AWS CloudFront for in-place updates

Bug fixes

- FIX: I2S device list query
- FIX: Playlist save not working
- FIX: DSD decoded-to on Audioconfig
- FIX: Wifi/BT disable not working if Adv kernel
- FIX: Change Browser title not working
- FIX: System info on/off status for UPnP, DLNA
- FIX: ALSA volume field "required" error

Hi Tim,

Would this update include the Allo Boss DAC workaround below?

Hi,

If you know a little Linux ssh then try the cmd below. its a workaround until I can get an in-place update packaged up. Note that the Boss driver only works in the Adv kernels.

sudo sqlite3 /var/local/www/db/moode-sqlite3.db "update cfg_audiodev set kernel='' where id='1’"

Stock install... :)

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Tim, if you can include the new BOSS drivers.
It was mentioned by Allo team in volumio forum..
They did it because of a click / pop sound when changing tracks

and thanks, of corse!

Hi,

AFAIK the updated Allo drivers are only in the 4.9 Linux kernel branch. I'll start testing 4.9.x as soon as the devs fix the "I2S sync/clocks" issue.
