Maya R2R Advanced Volume controller

Just keep reminding yourself that the Maya is a small price increment over a good stepped attenuator and still one of the least expensive remote solutions out there. That and if the BPBP is as good as claimed, it will likely be in your system for a long time, so its an investment.

Or you can just attribute the cost to mission creep. It started out as an inexpensive preamp and you just added this little thing and that one until it got out of control. ;)

The term "an investment" always grates with me - always a very bad investment unless it increases in value!

It's just about value for the enjoyment you get out of it, or convenience. For me the Maya is worth it for such a display, remote volume control AND input control.

It may be of lesser value if you are not going to add extra inputs to the BPPBP by using some kind of I2C controlled multiple input switch.. If it's just a volume control, perhaps a motorised 10k pot would be more suitable. Without multiple inputs, you only need a display to show the position of the pot. The Maya would be overkill because it can SO much more....

Yeah, investment was just a lazy way of saying a piece of equipment with a low annual cost of ownership.

A motorized pot would likely be log taper or at best linear with a bit on nonlinearity and the resultant odd control law issues the manual pot raises. While not taking advantage of the Maya's full capability it still seems a good choice relative to a random pot.

At one point there was discussion of a Maya input selector board for BPBP. Did that come to fruition?

Yes from the beginning , Hans BPBP pcb with Maya control have from 2 input to 6 input selection depending on what you put on the PCB. See the docs Hans prepared for builders.

1. Maya Rout is 10K and if amplifier Rin is also 10K should I use some kind of buffer at the
output of Maya?
2. Complete Maya come with oled and bt?
3. Can bluetooth and infrared remote both be used or just another?
4. Latest firmware is installed?
5. It would be nice to see display ”in action”, like can source, volume and/or temp be seen
at the same time or not?

Well I don't recall there being a Save option. How do I Save the settings?

I can not duplicate your issue.
Are you using latest firmware ?
After you enter last key, you get a "Saving RC5... Done !!!" message.

Tibi
