Boominator Digest
Some time ago I started a document that summarized key information in this thread and, while not done to the standard I had planned I do think it would be some value so I am publishing it as-is. Hopefully some people find this useful.
Feel free to suggest changes, corrections, or send me additional content.

Nope. Those are not correct.
How about these sources:

Great PDF aterren, the Boominator topic really spreads out quite wide by now. Good to have a digest!
By the way, why do folks think the tweeters are discontinued? They still seem to be available.

This thread is for discussion of the Boominator design rather than general DIY audio issues. That said, in looking at the video it seems the lights are dimming on transients. A large capacitor may help but make sure the basics right first.
Replace alligator on power lines with proper wiring. Verify that your power supply is large enough. If you are using a battery make sure it is fully charged and appropriately sized.
Sorry if I mislead folks on the tweeters. The place I buy my drivers (Louspeakers Plus) put them on clearance (US $13) so I thought maybe they were going away.
I think the USA sales have been slow...like this forum in recent months. In any case i am glad you made that post as it prompted me to to look around and find their sale. Now i have some extra tweeters on the shelf.
Are you in the process of building a Boominator now?

Not right now, but I am slowly gathering the parts.
I have built two minis and one full size boominator and when I see the drivers on sale/available, I grab them. I have parts sitting around for two more minis which I may build for one of my kids and a nephew.
How I discovered the tweeters were on sale was someone on this forum asked me for my boominator plans/parts list and when I compiled the list, I put in links for each part. $13 was a no brainer knowing I would build another boominator at some point. After making that purchase I got a 10% off coupon so I grabbed the woofers too.
My goal is to some day have two boominators in a portable battery-based DJ system that can be used on the beaches near a cottage I have (where there is no power).
There are more commercially made units on the market these days, but I still haven't found anything that is better than the boominator.

Agreed. Nice snag on the woofers.

Hey! I Read somewhere people are using two maxamps in their build. How does it work? Could anyone explain the connections and such?
Hi, the only reason I would use 2 max amps is if you are using a DSP and need to. If that is something you want to do with the normal design you just run the tweeters off one amp and the woofers from another. The crossover would need to be separated too if you are using the PAudio tweeters

Alright! My maxamp is distorting alot at the highest volume. (Using a android phone as source).
Should it be like that? Is ther any easy way to fix it, like changing to a stronger amp?
I'll never contradict the doctor....check the voltage.
It should be very loud with a max amp. There is a jumper you can bridge on the Max AMP to increase the gain and be mindful that at max volume the issue may be the source. I do not have experience with android but iphones sound worse once they get past ~80% volume.

Thanks! In getting 13.1 volts from My two lifepo4's
That should be fine?
How is that done? I cannot find any "typical" jumper on the maxamp.

The jumper decreases the gain. By default the gain is perfect for phones etc. It's two pads that can be connected:
