Moode Audio Player for Raspberry Pi

hello all,

I use a raspberry 2B + moode last version
I experience a very very bad network quality on SMB copy (from a computer to the SMB share of the raspberry): less than 50Ko/s and time out.

ssh, http and mpd clients access are fine, so I beleive it is specific to SMB. Did not test NFS yet.

Also, access to the 'source' settings in the web interface (http://myraspy/src-config.php) only work the first time: If I try to configure a SMB share, then the interface goes in time out and it is then not possible to access the 'source' settings again: only solution is to reboot the rasp, but then the 'source' settings spoecify an error about the mount and any modification reproduce the problem.

The audio function (from usb), library and other features of moode are working well.

Any idea ?

Thank you Tim!

Shame about the auto-shuffle + long playlists.

Another question which might actually be an MPD problem:

I added a 500GB USB hd library to moode and MPD sort of halts after reading one directory and just gives me the updating status forever. I tried mpc listall and the list it gives me doesn't change.

Is there some other way I can add this library to MPD and or get meaningful status of the db update?

Hi,

To troubleshoot try examining mpd log:

- System config: Clear system logs
- Sources: UPDATE MPD DB
- cat (or tail -f) /var/log/mpd/mpd.log

MPD log level can be increased by editing /etc/mpd.conf and then restarting mpd
- change log_level "default" to log_level "verbose"

Sorry but my troubles where solely my own.
4 TB hd's with NTFS are not readily available to a raspberry pi. My music collection is around 500GB but the hd was 4TB.
Automount doesn't work but the error is silent, that could be improved upon!

Only a manual mount operation convinced me of the problem.

Ext2Fsd for windows access and an ext4 partition helps a lot.

Samba is a tried-and-true function, tested literally millions of times on this platform. It's much more likely to be your network - whether that's the router, Pi network adapter or whatever, is down to you to sort out.

Just because you can manage a low-bitrate ssh connection doesn't indicate a great-performing network.

My player hangs on startup, processing the state file. At least, with verbose mpd logging I found it wouldn't get past this entry:

Code:
Feb 04 10:17 : client: process command "status"

So I disabled the "state_file" parameter in /etc/mpd.conf and now it works fine.

Here is the contents of the state file. What's wrong with it?

FWIW, although I present the analysis & workaround concisely, it was frustrating and time consuming to get there!

Code:
sw_volume: 77
audio_device_state:1:ALSA default
audio_device_state:0:ALSA crossfeed
state: pause
current: 2
time: 15292.362000
random: 0
repeat: 0
single: 0
consume: 0
crossfade: 0
mixrampdb: 0.000000
mixrampdelay: -1.000000

And while we're looking at my playlist, I should plug KFJC at http://netcast.kfjc.org. It is the best radio station in this and all other universes. (#18 in a recent survey of top college radio stations but what do they know!) :D

Thanks!

Hi Tim, everyone
Warning, I'm worst kind of noob, the kind with years of professional IT experience who never touched Linux before. Uh-OH! :p

Just got my first RPi, I loaded Moode today. Plug it in, nothing. I followed the instructions carefully. "Oh sure you did... "

I format (overwrite) the microSD card. I unzipped the moode image file in windows explorer, then I used this to write the image to microSD, no problem. I saw the files on SD before I ejected it from my laptop.

I'm using ethernet cable (link lights active,) USB DAC connected and powered up, Using Canakit 5V 2.5A PS. Using Chrome in windows to browse to "http://moode" I can see moode device name in my router's DHCP client list. Tried to browse direct to IP, no go. Added port :80, no go.

Is it safe to just unplug the power from Pi without hurting it?

What should I try next?

Thanks very much for this support forum. I admit that my age exceeds recommended age group for these cool little digital toys, but I soldier on.

Rich

I was able to connect and login with Putty. Had to provide IP, putty could not find network name moode. Putty warned that the ID key was not known or something. I connected anyway.

I learned not to pull the plug for power off. I shut it down with sudo halt -p.

Thanks for any advice how to proceed.

Hello

Moode audio works like a charm on Pi2 and an output on USB DAC Steinberg UR22. But airplay doesn't give any sound (from Qobuz playing on a PC with TuneBlade and Ethernet). By the way, it works with the Pi card output connected to the amp.
So I think that is the same case I have seen from "Franz159" with shairplay (Steinberg is 24 bits/192 kHz interface).
Not very comfortable with programming and working under the hood, so is there any chance for a new version of Moode Audio (but I am very happy with this one :)

Comeback story

I'm an avid user of moode, supporter and even built it with 7" display. However, for a year I went to dark side(s) - Rune and Volumio 2 just because of their Spotify support. My wife and kids just like to listen their music in our stereo system.

Just yesterday, I came catching up with the forum and found noise about Spotify support from Rafa, Lazer, Igor and Tim. Oh boy it's like Christmas again!! So I loaded my Pi3 with moOde 3.1 and reconfigured everything and tested my music - WTF! the quality of music that came of my speakers just blew me away! I just found out how much quality I've been missing with Volumio and Rune. If I rate the sound quality, I would say -

Volumio2 - 5
RuneAudio - 7
Moode - 10!!!

So thank you Tim again for the work you've done. And Rafa, Lazer and Igor, thanks for your efforts. For now I'm running librespot - I will await for future integration with moode.

This is so awesome!

Tim and everyone, amazing audio and functionality from moode. How can it get any better?
I really want to have a display connected, such as the raspberry official or use hdmi.. Which is the easiest to implement, and how?

Would be good to have a sleep function, as I listen to music a lot late in bed.. Thoughts.

How long till your Spotify release, where can I get a fully working image.

Keep up the good work.

Excuse my ignorance, but where does the sound quality difference come from with these? Assuming you have identical hardware and the various settings are the same.....ie, interpolation filter, playback levels, mixer type, hardware/software volume control, mpd config, etc, etc, etc, then your setup should sound the same, yes??

Dave.

I've used most of the different audio players and theirs something about Moode as to my ears it's has a bigger sound and has more life to it

ie say your in a nightclub the others are like standing at the bar which is ok your enjoying the music where Moode is like being on the dance floor making shapes
