The Weather

Dave, your post made me Google Moncton and that looks like a pretty cold place with all that water surrounding it! Here in my back garden, the roses are still in bloom.

It would be nice to live where the roses are still in bloom this time of year for sure :) It's been a pretty good winter so far though, with the last few days being much colder than what we were having up till now.. Jan and Feb is when it can really dip into the minuses for usually short spells, thankfully!. Windchill's into the high -30'sC are not uncommon.. I'm 20 mins outside the city not far from Salisbury NB.. Thankful for a fairly efficient 78% wood stove and lots of hardwood keeping the inside toasty and warm :) Also great to have if the power goes out!

It's snow everywhere here, it was even snowing gently when we went out this morning. But it doesn't feel that cold yet, it hasn't got down to -10C or below yet.

Johno - 44C is too much man !

I have recently learned that the efficiency of electrics, no matter if heater or amplifier doesn't differ by either efficiency or calculator. However, it has become quite clear that what we should measure is effectiveness.

There happens to be a lot of difference in effectiveness. It happens rarely. But, that is very nice! Since the exceptions are rare, please pardon me for thinking that you don't need a heater to achieve audio quality worthy of comparison.

I do have a lot of ideas on electric heaters that cost less for portion of effectiveness; however, that matter has proved not especially relevant to audio.

I did check this. Electrothermal law is a really very difficult thing to circumvent; and, that's a fair and doable goal as well. For sure, it is clear that effectiveness is the only way to circumvent electrothermal efficiency calculations--so one could have the need of being more effective than expected. That is how to compromise the expensive calculators. That is evidently doable, it is a fine goal, and it is very rare. So, do the unexpected, and make it work.
