I think I prefer to use a low Qes driver with EQ, like Siegfried Linkwitz designs. I think it sound more acurate than high Qts driver without EQ

well Orlando that a look at how many what you must push and boost the speakers you can have a thermal compression problem...btw that focal is only 89db that helps you need 6db more , half way is alway a good compromise😉
sorry Kjeldsen you are rigth my bad

thanks nicoch58. I'll use an active configuaracion, with vst crossover. the extra power and SPL of kilomax, help to offset the low rolloff. in terms of different sensitivities I have only to properly adjust the gains of the amplifiers properly.
At normal listening levels I do not think I get to have a problem with thermal compression
I'll do all the processing before the DACs and all without phase distortion
sorry Kjeldsen
Here a photo of a beautiful open baffle😀

hope these are qualified as OB 🙂
Tannoy Brute Force OB ….. now Absolute WAF Tannoy OB | Zen Mod Blog
I've had success covering my MDF baffles with heavy textured wall coverings. I used a nice Ralph Loren print on the last pair.
It helps with WAF and offers some baffle damping but best of all no finish is required with MDF.
How about this one? Made by me.

Hello Sumanta,
they look nice. Can you tell us more about?
Hi,
Well I had used Philips HiQ paper cone 8" driver for mid, another paper cone 3" driver for tweeter facing up.
All drivers except tweeter are dipole and placed in open or open-folded baffles.
I had made Ripole cabinet with Ahuja drivers of 15" size - AS15 X 200.
I have active crossover and two amp to drive them. Cross over is of 4th order at 170 Hz.
This is a link to my setup playing a Vikram Ghosh & Pete CD, Kingdom of Rhythm.

Cool stuff Sumanta, you might have given me just the inspiration I need for using my Philips AD8080/m4 drivers, thanks!
That audax/copy tweeter hiss like stones on my sauna. I would leave it to thrash can
Audax is still alive... it has been built recentely in the "Château du Loir" factory.
How can you know what is good if you don't regulary taste what is ... less good 😀

Very true, silverprout. LOL. I quite like the angle of the woofer.

I am glad!
hi, silverprout!
Fountek midbass? (5" or 6"?) how good is it? I have fw168s (without enclosure.)

Fountek midbass? (5" or 6"?) are you satisfied?
Hi,
Yes satisfied (6"), but i use it only it on the 120Hz to 2.2KHz range (HP active LR24 120Hz and passive LP18@2.2K) in a heavy stuffed closed box (5Liters).
Very, very clean midrange... a 8" should be a tad better but needs a bigger baffle and can't be crossed higher than 1.5K.
I'm still searching for a cheap tweeter (HP@2.2KHz) for replacing my good old vintage audax collector.

It don't seems to be an OB speaker ?
Could you describe a little more your configuration ?
