This thread goes quiet for several days. Then I go to sleep for 8 hours, and 2 pages get added.
Thanks for getting close to shipping the kits! I feel happy to get on the list already.
A question I would pose: I am used to building these amps with the PCB flat on the heat sink. With the board at 90 degrees to the heat sink, will there be room in the 4u x 300 deluxe chassis for the boards, and the PSU? There are no input transformers, so one can pack the chassis.
Any chance we could get a sneak peek at the schematic?
Thanks again?

Never mind....Email went to junk box. When I registered, I didn't get the second page of confirmation but another page popped. How do I know I am registered? Can you confirm?
The kits contains 2 pairs vfet, so only 1 pair per channel.
Is it need to be matched?
I really thought this will be 2 pairs vfet output per channel.
(as i see the alum bracket it only drilled for 1 pair vfet)

Hey Kids! As promised...
Go here to register interest in the VFET mini-kit.
That way you will be notified 24 hrs before the public announcement!

Thanks for all great work !
What about "older kids" who ready have vfets at home ?
Could we buy pcb's set only ??
Greetings 🙂

Is it need to be matched?
I measured and graded the parts by Vgs primarily so that people will be able
to set a bias point before installing VFETs, for obvious reasons.
The VFETs were then sorted in order, and the packers have instructions to
go through them in sequence, so that when you get 2 pair you will find a
close match between the two N's and separately the 2 P's.
I did this so that:
a) audiophile mania for symmetry is satisfied.
b) you could get matched pairs if you buy two sets so as to make the
version with dual pairs of VFETs.
There is a lengthy instructional sheet on preliminary testing of the amplifier
before and after applying power, with the installation and adjustment of the
VFETs being last, the idea here being to maximally assure that the result
works without the destruction of the VFETs.
6L6 is working on his "shakedown" copies, and as soon as we have his
feedback, we should be able to proceed.
😎

I must be the absolute opposite of an audiophile maniac.
Hahahaha
Thank you Papa.
Lot of time invested in this, for us greedy boys.
Papa really has put a lot of time in on this. Things like those test points to check so we don't blow up those irreplacible VFETs. And that lengthy instruction sheet.
6L6 promises to make up one of his awesome build guides too.
On the other hand... A member had this sig line, can't remember who:
"It's so hard to make things idiot-proof because idiots are so ingenious"
I'll admit I've been ingenious sometimes! Let's hope not when we're packaging up your kits...
Here's the link again to get on the waiting list

What if you already have vfets and just want brackets and pcb, and bolts, etc? Is that not available?

The brackets where made to the same number of available Vfets so no more brackets available. They aren't that hard to drill from a T shaped aluminum bar, maybe Papa could be (even more) generous enough to post the dimensions drilling information for the brackets! 🙂
If we want to build a 2 pair version of the amp, will 2 brackets fit into a 5u chassis? What are our options for 2 pair versions?

Tell you what - buy a kit and send me the vfets? 🙂

Papa already produced a drawing showing how to drill the T section aluminium.
Seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you.
And it came to pass (no pun intended) that the greedy boys all rejoiced...........

I and some my friends are waiting to buy some kits....
By the way, the brackets look like very good!

In regards to PCBs, I have updated the registration of interest form so you can now state that you are only interested in a set of PCBs, and not in the kit itself. We have a few spare PCB sets so first in best dressed. If you've already registered your interest, click on the confirmation link you were sent and update your preferences (as shown below) to indicate you only want PCBs.

it would be nice if there is an option for Vfet + pcb only
That won't be an option from us but you can trade with someone 🙂
