Moode Audio Player for Raspberry Pi

Hi Tim: Seems to have ironed itself out, although SSH still seems a little unresponsive. Now I'm noticing something different: when I cd /mnt and then ls I get NAS, UPNP, and SDCARD, but no "USB" for the hard disk I've connected. In the 'browse' pane, USB is listed, but unlike previous versions all of my folders are now stored in a subfolder in USB called 'BA42E30942E2C969'. Any idea why this is happening?

Hi,

Moode 2.6 uses a new USB auto mounter that mounts by disk label to the /media folder. Browse panel has a single root USB folder which contains sub-folders named by disk label.

For example one of my USB disks is named EXFAT-128GB. This shows up as /media/EXFAT-128GB in the OS, and as USB/EXFAT-128GB in Browse panel.

Hi Barry,

The custom playlist files are located in:

/var/lib/mpd/playlists

-Tim

Tim,
Thanks for the quick response, it worked great. I had to do a few commands in terminal window to make it work after I copied the files from my desktop to /home/pi/playlists/ folder on the pi:

cd /var/lib/mpd/playlists
ls -ls
sudo cp /home/pi/playlists/*
sudo chown mpd:audio *
ls -ls
Thanks,
Barry

Radio stations

Hi Tim et al.

I'm still running previous TR version, however would you want the links, logos, pls files and SQL table for extra BBC stations, Asian, 4,5, WorldService (4) regions and all the BBC local radio, also have Norway's NRK Jazz, Classical, Folk, pop and rock stations.

Let me know and I can package up for you, Total would go from 185 to 245.

Hi,

The symptom "stutters as soon as I move the iPhone" suggests a network (WiFi) issue.

Airplay (shairport-sync) and MPD are completely separate with respect to settings. Shairport-sync settings are in /etc/shairport-sync.conf and are left at default values since Moode starts shairport-sync using its cmd line settings.

Here is example:

/usr/local/bin/shairport-sync -a "Moode Airplay" -S soxr -w -B /var/www/command/spspre.sh -E /var/www/command/spspost.sh --metadata-pipename=/tmp/shairport-sync-metadata --get-coverart -- -d hw:1 -c PCM

Regards,
Tim

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion (ages ago, time flies) and to the person who mentioned turning off Bluetooth. I got Airplay stable(ish) by adding another powerline wifi point, it seems especially sensitive to the wifi signal, as laptops were OK. I also had other problems with the moode player not showing up reliably under Airplay on the iphone, and it seems connecting the Raspberry to LAN worked better for me. The internet has a lot of talk about Airplay issues even with pure Apple devices, seems the protocol is not too robust.

Also I created a problem for myself while trying to fix this, by turning on QoS on my DD-WRT router, which caused the Moode radio streams to stutter! I mention it just in case anyone else has a stuttery stream.

So all good now and running last weeks v2.6 final release, which is looking great.

Thanks

Hi Richard,

Yes, definitely send me the package and I'll integrate them for release 2.7. I've been thinking about ways to improve the RADIO folder so that the stations are organized in some fashion. Maybe having sub-folders for certain groups of stations like BBC, SOMA etc.

Hi,

I've developed a system for in-place updating of Moode for a class of updates that are relativly simple in nature and not tied to migration of settings, sql or complex OS changes.

This class of updates covers many types of fixes and improvements that previously would have resulted in whole new Test Releases being produced. The new in-place updater once fully implemented, would be run right from the UI :)

I have a update package available that performs some fixes and code updates to Moode 2.6 and am looking for some volunteers to test it out manually.

Send email to tim at moodeaudio dot org if u would like to try it out. It requires familiarity with Linux ssh and various cmds.

Regards,
Tim

I'm having a couple of problems w/2.6 final.

First is that when I burn a new card and start up, everything seems normal. I can make settings changes, update the USB drive/library, add/subtract from the playlist, re-name, pretty much everything. But when I reboot, it fails to connect to the browser. I was having some power supply cable issues, but the RPi little red light is stable and I think that is fixed now. This behavior was similar for me with tr6 and tr7. Using the moode AP. Clearing browser history makes no difference. Suggestions of things to try, anyone?

The other problem is a display issue with an iPad mini + Safari. The little arrow that pulls up the "Save Playlist" and other menus/buttons doesn't display. I can toggle back and forth, but I can only see the top one when I scroll up, but it disappears when it springs back. Behavior at bottom is the same. When I scroll down, I can see the "Save Playlist" window, but then it disappears when the screen springs back to the static position. This makes it impossible to save the playlist, an absolutely essential for me.

There's a Mamboberry attached if that matters.

Any ideas?

Hi,
thanks for this update!
After using v 2.55 for a while I made an fresh install yesterday on a raspberry2.
All works fine, USB autodetected, I was able to play music basically within a few minutes.

Only issue I have so far is with the dlna server. moode dlna is detected by tablets or phones (with upnplay for example), a basic folder structure is displayed. But all those folders are empty.
I also tried the rescan but it doesn't seem to help. What could be the cause for this problem?

Fresh card and reboot after selecting i2s device seems to have fixed problem #1 for me.

Still have the issue of not being able to see or choose "Search" or "Save Playlist" on my iPad/Safari.

Hi,

I was able to repro the Toolbar not showing on Playback panel when iPad Mini. This is caused by a bug in the Playback panel HTML.

If u know a little Linux ssh, this fix plus some others can be applied via the new in-place updater system that I'm currently field testing with a couple other users :)

Send me email if u would like to try it.

Regards,
Tim

I forgot to mention, that the library view directly inside Moode works just fine and I also can access the music files via network.
I t just seems that the dlna server does not share the files that are on the USB stick.
Actually, the DLNA client only offers the built in storage(SD), USB ist not displayed.

I've just switched over from TR7 to 2.6 and had to reinstall the image.
After initial network configuration and reboot,I've got to empty library and no empty Browse panel with "connection to mpd server failed"message.
Reinstall did help and now, the player is working.
The only thing I've noticed so far is a cosmetic flaw on the Browse button when updating the library (reload/refresh doesn't help):

Hi Tim

I switched from 2.5 to 2.6. I had the same issue as mRqS and a reboot did the job. Thanks for the nice job !

Btw, a little bug in customizing : when trying to pick up the time zone in the list, the top and down arrow leads to the first and the last line in the list. If I use the mouse scroll it is OK. If I remember well, same problem on another list in the customizing (maybe "audio device" selection).

QUESTION TO WAVE IO USB BOARD USERS :
I am still getting annoying glitches every 5 to 20 seconds (USB, not tried IS2), I hoped that the new version would have fixed it. I am using a Synology NAS. Is it a question of customizing (eg RSize or WSize in NAS customizing, I kept default) or any other parameters ? I tried apply the UAC2 fix, without results, I had tried other value for fiq_fsm_mask with 2.5 with few results.
Has someone succeeded with the WAVE IO and how ?
Would going from Pi2B to 3 change anything ?

Thank You
Jean-Louis

Hi,

Just ran a quick DLNA server test on one of my systems with USB disk (ExFAT format). I used VLC as client on an iPhone and did not have any issues playing files via DLNA.

What file system format is your USB disk using?
