Along with that fancy? case I would think that some arm chair remote control is in order 🙂
A motorized Alps volume pot, multi-source input relay switching, power on/off 🙂
More ... flashing leds/power meters for the wow factor.
There is nice VU in thread http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/solid-state/235892-1000w-simple-pa-amplifier-80.html

Hi Mile,
I don't think I had ever tried the A40 together with the P30 so this morning I hooked them up. OH MY!!!! Talk about a power house. This thing was rattling my windows. I don't remember the last time I felt bass like that. Like someone was punching me in the chest. I have got to get this in a cabinet. Too good to reside in the amp pile. Thanks for suggesting it.
Blessings, Terry
Nice, I suggest my 'A class preamp PSU' and you get full discrite design.

Aren't you guys glad I asked? Can't believe no one has asked Mr ApexAudio all this time. I was wondering what it takes for an amp to get past the "I soldered it up and it's now singing" stage, destined for Still4given's amp "heap", to getting a real case with connectors and knobs. 🙂
You have nothing to do with this. I solder up and test what I choose. If you want a completed amp you are more than welcome to do the work yourself.

Here's a ready made LED VU (microcontroller adjustable modes) for $10.

I built two of the A class PSU's I just didn't have one handy. This is a Jung regulator and is stellar.

Sorry - I hope no offense was taken - I just meant that you are so prolific with builds that I wondered what it took for a build to get into a boxed up stage. The suggestion from ApexAudio for pairing the A40 and P30 was an outcome of me asking him what his favored amp was. Of course what you build and box up is your choice.

Here you go. With A class PSU

Nice.

Mr. Mile, whats the difference between A class PSU and shunt regulator in terms of SQ? Will it make a big difference in SQ? I had made a layout with tidu active volume controller paired with shunt regulator, thats why I am asking.

Hi Mile,
I noticed today that I have some offset on the output of the P30. There is no adjustment. Where would I make changes to correct this? The A40 has an input cap so it isn't an issue but some amps are DC coupled so it would be for those.

Try with these simple adjustment arrangement, for 22uF use nonpolar/bipolar type

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
What is the measurement offset?Hi Mile,

This is a symmetry circuit and many of the parts must be matched, especially the transistors.

CFA topology have high DC offset without DC servo circuit, P30 use output cap so +/-1V before cap is not problem. Use nonpolar/bipolar 22uF output cap as Dragan already suggest.

IRFP240/9240 substitute for FX8?
ApexAudio,
Can IRFP240/9240 be used instead of specified mosfets?
FX8 nice pcb design...

No you can't replace Lateral mosfet with vertical mosfet. You can use other lateral mosfets from Exicon or Semelab.

Thanks. Any recommended alternatives as these are kind of hard to get from a regular supplier like Mouser and Digikey. They seem to be availnale on eBay only.

You can buy Exicon mosfets from www.profusionplc.com shipping to US is cheap if you use airmail.
Forgot about Tayda Terry buys 2SK1058 and 2SJ162 from them, I have also bought mosfets from them.

Hi guys,
I found the issue with the offset on my P30. These were built using Alex's layout. He had the 47k resistor before the output cap so nothing was loading it.
I moved it to be after the cap and now all is fine.
