Distances of a few miles can sometimes make a difference which locals can detect. I grew up in North-East London, in the valley of the River Lea. Back then, I could often tell the difference between a local accent, and the accent of someone from the other side of the valley - about 3 miles away! I can't do it now, as I have been living away from London for several decades.

Nowadays even the BBC does not speak BBC English, but instead the peculiar mid-Atlantic speech favoured by our youngsters. On the BBC we now have 'bugs' instead of 'flies, wasps, bees, butterflies etc.'. We now 'meet up' with people instead of 'meeting' them. We have 'ongoing' issues instead of 'continuing' issues.
I need to visit the UK some time, lots of interesting things I have learned of over the years. Would be interesting to visit.

I have worked in Texas for some time, when I just arrived, everyone notices I had a New York accent. By the time I left, I noticed that I was catching on the Texas accent.

An equally odd thing is happening in the deep South . Most every one is becoming mid- western in their accent. Not a totally bad thing given it is a much more easily understood accent. However the Scotch/ Irish colloquialism and other contraction that where the signature of the place are lost any where near a city. The move to a non native regional accent is viewed as being more sophisticated and urban by the young who most desire to be a uniform individual like the rest ( yes a bit of an oxymoron).

Spec RPA-W7EX Real-Sound power amplifier Measurements | Stereophile.com

Another one that makes me chuckle. The designers give the whole dog and pony about component selection and how they have designed out problems with class D, but it can't even do a flat FR to 20kHz and the gain on the balanced input changes by 4.5dB depending upon whether you ground or float pin1.

Once again JA, to his credit says 'this not an amplifier that can be universally recommended, I feel'
