Sonny,

How can be powered the display if the ribbon cable between the display and the dac should be disconnected? I am trying to update the firmware following your instruction but disconnecting the ribbon cable there is no power to the display.

One minor problem with the Windows 10(Build 10586.36).The computer won´t go to sleepmode when the DAC is only connected to the computer without any listening and when listening the display will not turn off.I think,i have a second newest firmware in my DAC.

Another Xmos based DAC is working fine with same driver.

I'm going the other way. I abandoned my MacMini and bought an Auralic Aries. The Aries can't upsample so I bought the software today and upsampled a 24-96 album to 1-256 DSD. It is transferring to my MacMini (my temporary server) right now. Size went from 2GB to 15GB. Let's see how it sounds when it is done transferring... Takes forever it seems 🙂

I have not enabled the low power mode, as xmos warns that it would consume idle time during playback

It is also the case on iOS where it does not go in screensaver when playing from tidal.

Sonny, I used XiSRC to upsample some music files. So far I'm happy with the results. I noticed my Auralic Aries plays everything except DSD256 (The Aries should be able to play this) When I play a DSD256 file as .dff I get an error and when I play a .dsf at that resolution I only get noise. Am I wrong to think the AK4490 can play DSD256? It's not really a big issue but I would like to know.

Another question. I'm planning to buy your pre amp as well. You mentioned you would upload the manual for the frontpanel a couple of times over here... I would really like to read that first to see if I understand how to use al the functions without doing something wrong. Things like how to update firmware, changing filters, program buttons, text etc., is al new to me. Because I'm using an Apple computer it's nice to know if I can do these things on my Apple or if it is necessary to use a Windows PC for that (I do have VMware running on an iMac).
Or am I making an issue out of something that in's there?

Using AudioLinux i have been apple to play DSD 256. Also has bavmike and sebbyp.

I cannot comment on the Auralic Aries as i have not tried this one.

Windows and OS/X runs only DoP128 as max.

The homepage says "double rate dsd"... That is DSD 128

It says "The USB audio host can deliver PCM from 44.1 to 384 KHz at 16-, 24- and 32-bit resolutions as well as DSD, Double-Rate DSD for compatible USB DAC"

Thanks! I'm only using the Aries. I will double check if the Aries is supposed to do dsd256. The Auralic homepage indeed mentions double rated did but the tech-specs mention 256 also. Anyway, de 4490dac is able to do dsd256, must be the Aries I suppose...
