Which firmware do you use on the raspberry pi?

I was using raspbian with an updated ALSA and libasound package.

I have since switched to Miska's packaged version he released in january for his NAA software. Thread here:

I'd suggest anyone that has a decent computer for work; tries out HQplayer with an NAA. I have infact just built a new HTPC today, which will be doing my HQplayer from now on. Specced with an i5 6600 (non k variant) and 16gb mem. Hoping it can handle it..

25 chassis are ordered now. We will receive first run of the Frontpanel, Keys and Volume Knop next week. We just need to confirm that all mounting holes are in place.

The Volume knop is to be glued onto the encoder shaft. Maybe not the best solution, but we will have no holes in the Volume knop to fix it on the shaft and we keep the weight of the Volume knop on 60 grams to get a good feeling.

So it is on its way.

I have tested with AudioLinux and the large DSD 256 from 2L recordings.

It works fine, but that is on a Windows laptop with 6GByte memory.

I think the Volumio cannot eat those large files. Sebbyp has done a Network media rendere. It does not read in the complete file as Volumio does.

You're on Windows and using the driver for Xmos so this is most probably the reason why you can play it. I think that Linux and Mac cannot read those files but 64fs and 128fs is supported natively, I believe this is what I read.

I'll try with my laptop but I don't want to dedicate a full computer.

Thanks
Do

Yeah forget this... I just read properly and you said you're using Audio Linux... Ooops!

Ordered the pre amp! 🙂

I checked with Auralic and the Aries should definitely be able to play DSD256.
I guess it is just doing that because I see time elapse when on the Aries display (and in the app) But with DoP I only get noise, Without DoP I get total silence.

Sonny, I saw the first dac's did not have DSD256. Could it be my dac is running older software? Or is that impossible?

Sonny, you mentioned about a Walt Jung-style LPS for the DAC and pre-amp - do you still intend to produce it for this enclosure, please?
Thanks,
Ivo

I got asked about the same questions on email.

So here it is.

1) preamp kit (389€)
2) AK 4490 USB DAC + discrete DAC kit (326€)
3) SMPS (73€) or LPS (155€)
4) Input / output connectors (45€ for XLR board and 45€ RCA board)
5) chassis (191€).

So an complete kit will cost for SMPS variant 1069€ + shipping and for LPS variant 1151€ + shipping

The powersupply board LPS should be ready for production next week.

Regardless if you choose SMPS or LPS everything can be powered form the SMPS and LPS.

7) I can also sell prebuild preamp/DAC/LPS for 1351€ + shipping with 2 years warranty

8) There is space for an RIAA board as well when it is ready.
