I've tried clamp on ferrites on power cables and even ferrite beads on the input signal lines of my power amps.
no increase in distortion
no change in sound
no more for RFI

Ferrite is a cheap material with real, predictable and measurable effects, hence the mistrust, I suppose.
Does anybody recall the post by Charles Hansen on the audibility of wooden blocks used to lift speaker cables off the floor? IIRC, the ones made from Maple sounded better than the ones made from Douglas fir. Maybe someone can dig up the post.

It's a good engineering solution - I expect that's the reason its distrusted . . .

Yes, but please don't make the mistake to use maple or all your notes will stick together. Myrtle is what you need.

Audiophiles trust their gut instincts developed from childhood memories
Foil = Good (Chocolate coverings)
Ferrite = Bad ( Lump of Coal )

That must be it.
Carbon is so much more interesting than some stupid sled.
(I was a pyrophile as a kid. My most memorable moment included a closed-off highway section, 4 fire trucks and a hundred burning acres, delayed ignited. My fireman training at twice that age, was only half the experience and half the fun)

This is a keeper:

One time we were experimenting with a preamp. We doubled the amount of filter capacitance in the power supply. The extra capacitors were connected by about 8" of high-quality wire and set on the floor next to the chassis. I liked what I heard from the extra capacitance, but one of the other guys listening pointed out that some aspects of the sound went downhill. So we set the extra capacitors on top of wood blocks instead of the carpeted floor in the listening room. I was stunned to hear that putting the extra caps on wood blocks made a bigger difference to the sound than whether or not they were in the circuit.

So setting the caps down next to the amplifier unconnected (on wooden blocks of course) was an improvement???
Insanity. There's just no other word for it.
I have a few. Hype. Self-promotion. Intellectual dishonesty.

Jenga Fever comes to mind.

I believe he was discussing complimentary caps.
That's it.
Anyone remember the 'dirty bit of sand' story where the LM4562 was trashed?
Irony being doped silicon is still orders (many) of magnitude purer than any beach sand, beside the point pure silicon and pure quartz are not the same.

"The wooden blocks for the JENGA game begin as alder trees. For many years, alder trees were considered weeds and of little value and were cleared for use only as firewood. More recently, it has been discovered that alder could be an important source of hardwood, making it useful as building material for houses, furniture and, of course, JENGA blocks."
😀Electric guitars, most notably the Fender Jazz Bass, Fender Precision Bass, Fender Stratocaster and Fender Telecaster, have been built with alder bodies since the 1950s. Alder is appreciated for its claimed tight and even balanced tone, especially when compared to mahogany, and has been adopted by many electric guitar manufacturers

I think he was specifically comparings IC's with discrete designs in that tirade I.e opamps were no good for high end audio it had to be discrete.
