What are you Watching?

We watched this yesterday - brilliant performance by the beautiful Liv Tyler. Great thriller, but I find lots of common grounds with 'The Purge', 'You're Next', 'Coherence' and the like:

This was an unexpectedly great movie - it meanders from light-heartedness to potential terror until the very end at which point it can shake you up greatly.

My girlfriend was more shaken from this compared to 'The Conjuring' which she didn't find disturbing at all.

Being filmed as 'found footage' or 'documentary style' helps its effectiveness.

The stuff of cult movies.

I haven't seen this, but it reminded me of the 2004 film of the same name:

This was genuinely creepy.

I have to say I've had more than my fill of these found footage style horror movies, with the exception of The Blair Witch Project arguably the original found footage horror film and the first Paranormal Activity film, the rest of the genre has failed to impress me.

The Conjuring was genuinely unsettling.

That one was just okay for me.

Understandable, but the 'found footage' here is not just a device or budget-cutting measure, it is an inherent part of the story.

Give it a try, it will be interesting to see what you think vs old Creep or vs Conjuring.

John Candy, he was a funny Canadian. ...R.I.P.
{He was in 'The Blues Brothers' too..."orange whip".}

Last night I watched this documentary/interview/real life drama style ::

Was it right or wrong what he did and still do today? ...Good luck with that answer because one way or the other they'll be other people with the exact opposite opinion.

One thing is for sure though; no matter how smart he is with computer hacking, he did not see the full extent of his actions and consequences.

See it, it's captivating.

Taking some time off here, some time outside, some in the garden with barbecue, some audiophile DIY and some HD + surround watching. Less.

We watched this last night:

It was very well done, avoided a lot of the cliches and was quite tense from the beginning to the end. The score was very reminiscent of John Carpenter, probably with more digital synths than analogue, but very effective as well.

Well, I went with your recommendation and watched it last night; very good.
I was inside my TV screen for the entire running time...transfixed and captivated...that's what good flicks are all about.

So thank you YashN, and me too I can recommend it to everyone else...even to people who get scared easily...in particular to them. :film::wave2s::film:
