TPA3116D2 Amp

Is the 10R+1uF in series with Avcc rail between Vcc and Avcc or Avcc to GND? That is a simple cheap mod for sure, I have never tried it but notice that the 3116 has hiss at zero input when I put my ear to speaker.

Have a look into:

Some ampboards use it as regulated output for XO's , former Wiener has larger capacitance and has maybe loudest power off pop any 3116 ampboard I heard, but not the meanest off pop btw.

Its not the capacitance I am particularly interested in changing, I stick with the data sheet values on the lines around IC, to reduce calculator battery use!

Its more the type, don't rate x7r caps much, and lower classes even more so. Was considering mica, tantalum or possibly an oscon SEPC.

From what I understood, this cap works best giving a clean, stable GND. I'll go over the texts again in next couple days, but got tax man files to get straight first!! 🙁

Your boards have 1uF MKT filmcapacitor on GVDD, c15, don't they???, somehow it seems you are talking about another capacitor ???

Dont know if MKT, crazy I didn't notice that. They are same as the two small blue "neg" side input caps! I am talking about c15 though. I have checked the trace lines going through resistors to it from IC.

Bleeding eck..... If they're polyester that could explain a lot!!!

Wouldn't use there. And certainly never use mix of dialectics on input caps.....

Input caps being replaced with quality polyester anyhow.. So now I'll get the 1uf nailed to mica/tantalum/SEPC instead.

What are you optimizing for? Leakage current? I actually don't get it. Is there anything that needs improvement? Or is it the typical cap rolling? 😕

Definitely not cap rolling...apart from getting rid of crap caps and resistors!!!

In that location the caps need to be low ESL, stable capacitance over freq & temp. ESR not a huge issue here.

From the research I've done into it from various sources the cap in this situation is usually recommended ceramic (high class), and many use mica if values allow.

I don't see why an SEPC wouldn't go nicely either. Clearly the answer to my original question is "no". 🙂

Irrebeo.... They are nice, have experienced in past very similar! Even considered some similar in this project, but wanna keep low profile board size for planned enclosure.
