Hi guys-
I've lost track- has anyone found a 3116 2.1 that they liked. I know the earlier discussions weren't too positive.
Happy Holidays 😀
Plus One, (on both )!

I read Les H’s review of the SMSL SA-60 and I ordered one. Indeed, it’s very good.
A short question. I am thinking about making an amp myself (for my studyroom): a Sure TPA3116 board with a very good power supply. What do you think: Will there be much difference in sound quality with the SA-60? Does anyone have an opinion about this?

Hello, i have questions, one of my TPA3116 Speaker channel doesn't work normal, when i connect the speaker to Left channel, my speaker cone move up down like a pulse, even there was no input. when i connect the input, the sound is intermittent. i have check all components, there is no problem on passive components, is it means my IC broken?
Yes, that's correct. That's why I posted this. The board is mislabeled. If you attach your speakers according to the board, the stereo signal will be out of phase.
The TA2024 boards are labelled like the pictured board,ie: +,-,-,+
I read further through this monstrous thread. They are indeed back the front.
I am awaiting delivery of two of these boards.

TPA3116 amp question
I just bought a TPA3116 amp off ebay to drive tweeters in a biamp 2-way project. I bought this one => Ultimate V1 TPA3116 Class D Stereo Power Amplifier Board w Bootstrap Caps | eBay [ and HERE is a link to a PDF of the listing, for use after the eBay listing vanishes. ] This version seems to have some upgraded parts. I'll be running it off of a well regulated, low noise, low impedance linear supply of 22 volts @ 3 amps. I'll need about 15 watts at 4 ohms to drive the tweeters in my design...
QUESTIONS:
1. Those inductors look small- but maybe they are adequate considering my power needs are low?? Thoughts, anyone?
2. The eBay item mentions bootstrap caps, but I've read mentions of SNUBBER caps in addition to bootstrap caps- can someone point me to a link that can help me understand this? Where would the snubber caps go?
3. Any further suggestions to improve sound quality?
-if you are interested, I have a DIYAUDIO thread for my biamp speaker project =>http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/multi-way/264096-build-2-way-biamp-integrated-source.html

Near chip bottomside pcb you find snubber smdpads, probably with parts on them, if not you need some 330pF and 10 ohm.

AH-HA! OK, that answers my question. Snubbers, just like for relays & switches & switching supplies etc. Capacitor with resistor in series. And they are (or should be) right near the chip, to minimize inductance between the actual solid state switching element and the snubber- all the better to snub very high frequency stuff.
Thanks. That solves my snubber quandry.
I'll look for them when the thing arrives.

The board I bought isn't on there. The board I bought is some variation of the YG Version 2.0 "Danzz" design but has some differences
YG Version 2 "Danzz" design
Board I bought - clearly, some differences- such as some WIMA caps etc
Do any 2.1 boards allow frequencies adjustments on the sub channel?
To my knowledge none of the YJ 2.1 boards do, but if you search Flea Bay for "TPA3116 2.1 amp board" there were some there when last I looked. Not sure about the quality hence my query here a few pages back.
This is one that appears to be much like the "Breeze" amps that were talked about earlier in the thread, I have not purchased one nor do I have any experience with them. A search in this thread for the Breeze amp may prove fruitful...

I hesitate to post Ebay listings as they expire so quickly... but here is one I found today.

You should be able to identify the bootstrap caps ... the four next to the heatsink/chip
The snubbers ...330 pF caps and 10 Ohm resistors ... connect from the output sides of the bootstrap caps to ground; you may be able to trace the connections
Yes, your board has additions to the original blue/black, but the original basics are still there
If you can't find 330 pF caps and 10 Ohm resistors, then you don't have snubbers
The bootstrap & snubber mods as per the Wiki are a worthwhile change ... far more so than changing the input DC caps to Wimas .. IMHO. On the original blue/black, I tried 1.0 uF & 3.3 uF Wimas; couldn't detect a change. That keyboarded, I didn't do an immediate A/B test, modded v unmodded. Had I done so at every mod step, I may have discovered that the result of every mod [I've done most all of 'em] was purely imaginary & maybe what I wanted to hear.
Who knows ... unfortunately my ears are plain old iron, not golden. But hey, it's fun playing around with the 3116 & other chip amps. It would have been a good idea to modify step-by-step the blue/black & do an immediate A/B with a stock one, but it's too late for that ... & I'm happy with what I have, anyway 🙂
I bought the Breeze 2.1 and I have to say that for non critical applications it seems just fine. It is not what I would go to for the most refined sound or for the best subwoofer satellite application. However at it's price point it's plenty of fun to run the system in my workshop. If you need a better set up then get a 2.0 and let a dedicated sub amp take care of the low end. Just my 2 cents worth.
Original is datasheet AND EVM guide, not even a red board
In the context of my post, "original" referred to the blue/black board in the Wiki, to differentiate from the one Milosz purchased

New, slightly different TPA 3116 board
I recently bought this board, when it arrives I will post pictures of it and describe my experience with it.
Said -by the seller- to be a TPA3116 with better-quality parts on it in places where such make sense. We'll see.

Thanks for the input. What I am looking for is something to put in my son's Dorm room next year. Was thinking a pair of the Faital 4FE32's in GR BR boxes and a Dayton Sub would make a compact easy to move, reasonable sounding system for him...
