Ah, Soundhappy glad to have you back !😀
I have been busy🙂
I'll post some pics of my CSX1 with new bigger heatsinks. Two SK88s and even 3 SK88s didn't do the job.
These Austerlitz KS 216 are expensive but excellent heatsinks. Baseplate 15mm, 0.4K/W a piece. Heatsinks now become max 46C and VFETs 61C on top. I'll settle for that.
Oh, how nice these builds are!

Hi WalterW
Your Vfet CSX1 is really beauty diy realisation of this push-pull
i admire a lot and see You are care full of thermal parameters very best one.
Thanks and build more with great enginerring approach 🙂
This merits prise of DIY Excellence !

using the 2SK82 in single ended is there a better choice of CCS than the 2SJ28 or is it perfect for this task ?

For CCS the Semisouth R100 or the R125 could be better choice, or one of the solutions Mike suggested in L'amp thread.
So you are back to single ended?
If you do not want to go back to this terrain, make yourself acquainted with soundcard distortion measurement.
You can than tailor your sound a la F6.....
I help you!

Mike tried this in L'Amp thread and a second SK 82 was not good for CCS as he wrote in the part two.
Maybe of low transconductance....

They are the same but inverted, Michael had make the SE with SK, but not CCS, there are evolve diagram with http://www.ne.jp/asahi/evo/amp/stchara/2SK180_0.gif or this http://www.ne.jp/asahi/evo/amp/stchara/2SK180_1.gif
2sk70 is similar to sk82.

to complicate for a french fart , i will keep the VFET as CCS " c'est chic "
thanks all folks ! 🙂

sounds nearly the same , it"s just the idea to have a push pull that put me in trouble 😀
also a little more tubey as i like but can"t say for sure what bring this as i have swap the input buffer and tweak the power supply in the same time..

Actually, I was thinking that if you use the original schematic of csx1 when you use like SE probably the circuit is not a real SE and will cut while is the time for conducting the another transistor, the solution of this is rise the idle current but if not put down the voltage you gonna rise the maximum dissipation power.
Tell me if I am wrong.

i'm not the good guy for that question better ask ZM or the MASTER.. i just really know two rules : have fun and not burn the house 🙂
but make not mistake , there is no revolution here , just 2/3 less power , less bass control and less precise imaging in single end mode ,just what i like in tube Amp 😀

Read the original article of this thread, with little attention will discover the operating principles, there are sinusoid waves that explain the negative and the positive part of the cycles, you'll discover if you disconnect one of the transistors, if you are not conducting 100% the other transistor, part of the informations will not to be amplified. Remember that is Class A but, as pushpull we have to considerate that this class can be such if we rise the idle current twice the basically amount of class AB. In a SE, the current is 100% of the cycle. The device never rest. For this reason, must decrease the dissipation power. For the result of the sound, I guess, try to listen not loud music.

That's not a small thing - actually, when you think about it, one can build a very happy life around these two rules... 🙂

thanks for the explaination 🙂 i have built two version of L'AMP sit amp ( resistor and inductor load ) and was running the 2SK82in single end at 18V 2.3 AMP without problem ( the 2SK82 is 90 WAtt max dissipation) . so the 24V 1.5amp seems really safe with a right heatsink.

Especially if they're reversed in priority.

Hi Juanitox
Congratulations for nice CSX1 built !
Not doubt You are balanced XLR king.
Want ask You and Diyers about resistor in signal path are they become hot ? Are in this point benefit for sound if choice of more watts model ?Speakers protection influance Vfet´s outputs sound much or subtly.
Speakers is precious treasures i admit anyway .
Last question is this some break in time for this complementary sit´s
sound become better after week or more of intense listening sessions ?
Greetings 🙂
