for now "Horst" sounds better (to me) than Weiliang... sounds clean, enjoyable, relaxing, soft and whole spectrum is nicely balanced even if it's missing bit of dynamics and details but this will be fixable with different output stage or OPA. Weiliang sounds too "raw" bright and cold, it's nicely detailed and musical but only in low volumes, once you rise up volumes mids start screaming on you and highs are nearly harsh, all fall into one big mess when you really want to listen it loud. I like woman vocals so for me is most important mid/high spectrum where 2xWM8741 shine (for now). As I said I will keep experimenting because I think Weiliang has potential but I'll do the same with my other DAC so will see how it ends 😉

as I mentioned in my review of 3 in 1 DAC biggest advantage of this DAC is unlimited options for reasonable money, everyone has different taste, different set up of his/her stereo so if you don't like WM8741 or it doesn't match other part of your stereo you can change it to PCM1794A or AK4399 and play with other output stages, you don't have to buy completely new DAC for next couple of 100s bucks

if you plan to use it only for your headphones you will be more than satisfied 😉

Hi Kukynas your discription is spot on.
I also like to listen to a lot of women vocals.
I have done a tube output on my Weiliang this gives me a much bigger sound stage and sounds more natural to me.
If I didn't already have the tubes I would have probably tried a transformer output stage Sowter 9454E transformers.
Sowter are only 30 minutes from me so I would have tried them.
