Those insane turntables with huge mass seem to be most concerned with speed control and using the high mass to keep speed constant.
Then how do you explain a 100 pound plinth and a 300 pound stand. 😀
Funny that they don't also have a clamping system to tie the vinyl to that moving mass sometimes. A bell jar with a vacuum attachment would solve all the other problems one may think up.

Some of the incredibly heavy plinths and vertical masses I have seen must be a damned load on any motor to get going from a stop. I understand the concept of a heavy mass keeping a constant velocity but it seems rather overkill many times. I didn't say that none of these turntables don't clamp the vinyl or even use a vacuum system to hold the vinyl down but some don't seem to do that I have seen in the past. I'll just have to do with my old direct drive and Dual turntables for now. I think I would build my own before paying someone the price for any of the commercial products costing such big bucks. Joachim seems to be a very good source for information on diy turntables and arms.

It would appear that due to cable capacitance, a charge corresponding to the level of that pulse would have to move through both legs of the cable at propagation speed, nb, no relation with A but with V.

Please stop this nonsense, the circuit is completed at the source, the charge at the output is immediately equaled at the ground return. There is no packet of charge accellerated to c shot out the end of the generator.

What does the 240v primary do for you? Is more L from more windings on the primary better to choke out the line noise? Do you phase the secondary windings to cancel unwanted noise, is that why four?
