I had the same experience till awhile ago when i got problems with some ampboards. All 4 of them broken and only refund if i return them which will cost me as much as new ones! Also a preamp with leaky caps (15yrs old)
I will probably not buy again from along.. Minishow (ebay) is better and he have a good heart.

that reminds me of one time that I got service beyond what was required. it was only once but I should mention it just to show that not 100% of sellers from china are crooks.
I bought a finished 5.1 dts dac preamp box and there were 2 styles at the time; an old and a new (diff chip revs inside). the seller sent me the old one and it took the usual time to get here (nearly a month). he made a mistake and sent the old one, instead. I wrote back to him and he offered to send the correct version to me. what was beyond the call of duty was that he allowed me to keep the old version and not have to mail it back.
I assume it was two things going on: he may have been new and looking to get a good ebay rating; and also I'm sure he knew that return shipping on a heavy item (box, trafo, etc) and then return shipping to me would have cost more than just sending out another item. I'm sure it was just a math decision he made but he DID treat me well and when I see his name, I would buy from him again. it was a hard to remember name, though: wsz... (something that started with those letters).
so, sometimes the sellers break from tradition and actually Do The Right Thing(tm). not often, but it happens.

There is something wrong, I just realized last night that I put in the dual weiliang ak4399 the Muses 01 a dual opamp instead of a mono as opa 627, (cause my distraction). The fact is 'that they should not work, but they strangely work.
Does anyone know an explanation on why muses01 work in a mono setup?

I had same "problem" with the single ak4399 with xmos. But it was with some LME, dual op amps
Tonight I will remove completely the opamp 🙂 I suspect that the dac works the same 🙂

I have purchased AK4399 DAC for my friend from Chinese seller minishow. Everything arrived in time and in working condition. DAC is very good, sound quality is excellent.

Completely agree, good package, good seller and very very nice sounding dac to my ears.

Paypal refunded
Hi guys
Just to keep you informed of my story about my purchase in the Chinese webshop: Fortunately Paypal refunded my money entirely, I'm very glad. I can buy the DAC again on ebay (minishow).
Few days later, the seller contacted me for the first time with apologies; the DAC wasn't shipped at all, after 7 weeks! He offered me a discount, but I've no confidence at all.
No, no purchases from me at his shop anymore.
regards

I can understand your displeasure about this incident, I bought a number of items(*) at various times from Minishow, all them arrived promptly(*). Normally he will post you a reminder saying the item had been posted, did you receive this email? If not you should chase him up. I found his service to be satisfactory, he even provided me with the latest driver for the Weiliang Xmos.
* one of them is a AK4399 with Xmos.
** it takes 2-3wks to arrive in Australia.

Hi,
The 1st driver he gave was V1.61 later he gave me after I requested it, V2.1, I believe the Xmos from DIYinHK which I own one has the latest driver, V2.19, this version will not work on Weiliang's Xmos.
Try getting V2.1 from Minishow, if you can't contact me I will forward it to you.
I have been buying some things from szgracelee1005 on ebay and every time I get prompt emails of payment receipt and email when it is shipped with shipping details. Also prompt replies to every email I send. Even if they do not have immediate answers to some of my questions. That's reassuring ! I'll stick to the few who respond to emails.
I bought a DAC kit two years ago but started assembling it only now. Found that the LT1085-3.3V chips in the package were old pulled devices with twisted and cut leads. One even had the plastic on the rear chipped almost up to the die. The reply I got after complaining was that they 'said the chips were old' ( when ? ) and that 'new' LT1085-3.3V were very expensive now! That seller has been permanently crossed out in my book ! I don't want to go through the hassle of trying to get money back etc as I already assembled most of the board. Not sure what I'll do with it next ! I can only find LM1117-3.3V type chips in the local market.
When you find good sellers, stick with them !

I was just combing through the posts here looking for anything I may have missed with my dac5, same designer. Something that several have done is to reduce the amount of bias on the main opamps, as the opamps on mine come biased pretty heavily, and were taken down a notch for a benefit(less distortion), run cooler now too...
Again, different board, but the entire I/V portion looks the same to me.

minishow is alright
Hi guys, sorry for this rather late reply.
I finally bought the dual AK4399 DAC with an r-core transformer from minishow at ebay. He has answered all my questions promptly and I'm very confident about the purchase. I hope to receive the package soon, he provided me with a tracking number, very convenient.
Just to be clear: I didn't have any problems with minishow on ebay. The whole story was about a purchase with a webshop that didn't ship the goods (referring to my first post). Luckily I got my money back!
